Perplexed, I asked, “Elle, what are you talking about?”

She was even more confused than me. “You want me to touch you while you sleep?”

Duh! “If you don’t mind, yeah. I’d love that.”

“Oh.” She studied the side of my body, questions bouncing around in her head.

I was still trying to understand her hesitation. “Are you afraid of touching my bandage?”

“No, uh…” Her brows were now connected, more questions behind those green eyes.

I sighed in frustration, “Beautiful girl, smoke is coming out of your ears.”

From her pillow, she gawked until she realized I was joking. Then a smile started to appear before drifting away just as fast. “I-It’s just… Well… When Lorenzo is going to sleep, I’m not to touch him. Only sing.”

“Not touch—” I couldn’t stop my cringe. “Wait, sing at night? What, a lullaby? He have mommy issues?”

Her eyes widened. Then she stared at the ceiling, her lips blowing outward as she exhaled, probably clueless as to what Lorenzo’s issues were.

Suddenly annoyed that Lorenzo’s name even came up during the first time we were sharing a bed, I mentioned, “I think that pill is kickin’ in,” and closed my eyes.

“Oh, o-okay.”

I tried to reach over and turn off the lamp, but as soon as I grunted with an ounce of pain, Elle insisted, “I’ll get it,” quickly leaning over me.

Okay, so making all the right decisions was going to be a learning process. Lynx, don’t you do it! I slammed my eyes shut, begging myself not to already go back on the ‘staring when not invited’ promise. Damn it was tempting. She was mouthwatering to me.

Click! The room was now pitch black.

I sighed and opened my eyes. I was a good boy.

In the dark, it was stimulating to have to revert to my other senses. I heard and felt her sit back down. Then I felt a sheet get pulled over my hips and stomach. The mattress dipped again as she lay down. Her gentle feminine scent wafted in my nostrils, making me smile and repeating words… “It was nice to meet you, Elle.”

I hadn’t realized how sweet her giggle was until hearing it in the darkness. “Nice to have met you, too, VP. It seems leather men have quite the charm.”

That made me burst into laughter because I had just begged myself not to open my mouth and gobble a titty.

Grabbing my throbbing gut through more laughter, I teased, “Yes, that’s what bikers are known for. Charm.”

Laughing also, she promised, “I’m serious.”

“Nah. Only girls who snuggle are serious.” Lynx, you are a hopeless horndog.

After a pause, she scooted closer. “Better?”

“Better but not perfect. But that’s okay, I’m a patient man.” But, if you throw a boob in my face one more time, no promises.

Silence lingered, then she said, “I’m sorry I didn’t answer you about who caused my scars.”

Having her close was calming. “I get it. You’ll trust me someday.”

She exhaled. “I don’t think it’s so much a trust issue as much as a…” She groaned. “I have no idea.”

“Don’t know how to say it?”

“I think it’s more like, I don’t know what is what.”

In the dark, a brow lifted. “Are you able to explain that comment a bit more?”
