After a deep breath, I turned to face my one room home that was organized because I didn’t have many personal belongings. It was a little dusty because I didn’t dust.

In the center of the back wall was the bed. I winced when seeing it unmade, worried Rosa would think less of me. Then I rolled my eyes at my ridiculousness. I never make my bed!

In the far-right corner was a tiny bathroom. The wall facing along the right wall of my home was where the end of an old hand-me-down couch sat, a wobbly coffee table in front of it. On a side table at the other end of the couch sat the only lamp I had.

To the left in my home was a meek kitchen that was plenty to get me fed and house a couple of beers. In the front left corner was a dining area that held an old, two-seat table.

I wished I had hung a few pictures or something. Will she not be impressed?

I shook my head, trying to clear away insecurities I wasn’t accustomed to. I needed sleep.

At the bed, I gently laid Rosa down, but she had yet to release me. “Babe, you kind of have to let me go.”

“Is that truly what you want?” she whispered.

Finally hearing her voice, relief oozed through me, like finally finding heat in a cold cave. “No.” I smiled, and it felt superb as I cupped her flawless cheek. “You had me worried.”

Her eyes opened, but they no longer held magical stars and colors. Now they were only golden brown. “I’m adjusting.” With a touch of self-doubt, she asked, “Disappointed?”

In her eyes? Never.

Still hovering over her, I smoothed hair from her perfect face. “I love gold.”

She smiled, and it was heavenly. “I love brown. Reminds me of this world, where I always wanted to be.”

Not sure I’d ever get used to comments that confirmed she wasn’t from Earth, I chuckled. “Then you’re in luck with my shit-brown eyes.”

Her arms tightened around me. “Let me know more of you.”

My body cheered, yes! But first… “I have to remove hidden weapons before crawling into bed.”

Her arms drifted from around my waist, one hand passing over the gun in the back of my jeans. She cooed, “No fighting tonight.”

A kiss tempted me to not complete my task. Heated, I promised, “I want the complete opposite, too.”

I straightened my back then went to the nightstand, unloading two guns and a blade. “Need any food?”

Waiting for Rosa’s reply, I thought about how I hadn’t eaten since the diner. Excluding a wonderful desert between Rosa’s thighs, I don’t feel hungry at all—

“You won’t be for a couple of days.”

I lifted a brow. “Still able to read minds?”

“And other abilities, but I lost my dark ones.”

Stripping from all clothing before tossing them to the wooden floor, I thought out loud, “Fallen and Risen One. Hmm.”

Stretching across the mattress, her legs scissoring, Rosa looked like a true goddess while she lifted and removed her black silk over her head. “And now more human than I have ever been.”

On top of a crumpled sheet, I laid on my stomach while propping on my elbows. “Why do you look happy about it?”

She stretched again and sighed before rolling into me, placing a gorgeous leg over my ass. “Humans don’t realize how lucky they are to feel.” A calf grazed me. “To touch.” A hand grazed the sheet. “Sensually.” She leaned her mouth to mine and let it linger there. “Emotionally.”

Without warning, a wave of so much desire rolled through me, my body began to shake. I literally feared that if I moved I might hurt Rosa. What the hell? I didn’t allow my body to move an inch. I just tried to breathe without choking on my hunger for Rosa.

A finger grazed up my spine. “Now you understand how hungry I was.” The finger slid down my back until a palm caressed my ass. “How I burned for you.”

Panting, I countered, “All past tense?”
