Without warning, a vision of Rosa, at my window during a sunrise, tortured my mind. She was being fucked, but this time it wasn’t me. He was blond and had fucking wings! “What the fuck?” I yelled.

The male angel, rearing my girl from behind, was smiling at me.

“Feel me.” Lips kept kissing mine. “Don’t listen. Focus on me.”

I felt like I was going mad. “Rosa, who is he?”

Her hands held my face. “Jealousy leads to—”

“Who the fuck is he?” I roared.

Her mouth dropped open as she sat back, no longer on her heels. Now on her butt, she pulled knees to her chest and held them there. “A Fallen.”

My rage made no sense, but it was present nonetheless. “And you fucked him?”

“I saved him.” She rushed back to me. “Like I can you.” Her pushing wet hair from my face is how I realized I was drenched in sweat. “You’re so strong, Onus. Free will, remember?”

I stared at her, desperate for her to reach me, but all I could truly see was … him.

My eyes closed in an attempt to block the fading in-and-out vision. “I need you to be mine.”

She rushed to get on top of me, a leg bent on each side of me as she rested her chest to mine. My erection was long gone, but sex wasn’t what we needed to share right then.

Face-to-face with my eyes clamped shut, I didn’t dare look at her for fear of seeing her fucking the other fallen angel when she gently reminded, “You can’t keep me.”

“Babe—”

Her breath was sweet as it crossed my face. “I must fulfill my meaning—my purpose. We weren’t created to tend to one.” Since I had yet to open my eyes, the tip of her nose rubbed mine before she whispered, “But … if it were possible…”

My eyes flew open, hoping like hell she would say what I needed to hear.

She nodded. “It would be you I’d choose.”

Still not being able to move, tears filled my eyes as I lay there more vulnerable than I’d ever been, physically and mentally. “Are you real?”

Her nose scrunched as she fought her own tears. “As real as a being like me can be.”

She had reached so deep into my heart, I was doubting I was alive. “Did the bullet kill me?”

One of her tears fell to my face, slipping down my cheek then to the floor. “No.”

My voice was gravelly, so constricted with emotions. “Say it, babe.”

She sniffled as a tender smile formed. “Onus.”

She was right. I had free will. And my will wanted her in my arms.

Grunting, my left arm lifted from the ground and laid around her. Then my right arm lifted to do the same.

“I love you, Onus.”

In that instance, I found the strength to sit up, keeping her to me, planted in my lap. “I love you, Rhea.”

Tears burst from her. “My sun.”

She held me, so tightly, around my neck as we began lifting from the floor.

Peering down, I cautiously asked, “Rosa?”
