Her expression filled with shock. “What? No! He was sharing his power to bless—”

“I don’t want you seeing him again!” I exploded!

My random jealousy and lack of concern for what was truly important showed how fast I was slipping.

Rosa saw it, too. Her bottom lip trembled. “Onus, come to me.”

When she reached out her hand, I was surprised to feel a slight burn tickle my skin. I actually took a couple steps back to avoid the heat radiating off of her.

Rosa noticed, her posture sagging in defeat. Her hand gradually returned to her lap while she stared at me. Swallowing, she quietly admitted, “My friend, he is … jaded.” A surrender filled her somber expression. “His love is bitter.” A glimpse of hope shined in her eyes. “Not raw and vibrant like yours.”

I didn’t feel vibrant. I felt … dull and dirty, like the male angel and his soot.

Rising to her knees again, she glided her body across the mattress toward me, a forced smile in place. “Would you like to rinse it away?”

Looking down at my arms again, wondering why I couldn’t see the darkness on me, I nodded. “Is it … possible?”

“Anything is possible, as long as you can accept the form it comes in.”

“I don’t understand.”

Her eyes welled with tears, yet it made her even more stunning because within them her honesty radiated. “Miracles happen every day, yet if not delivered in a grand form, they go unnoticed.”

Wondering how many I’d already missed, I covered my mouth with the back of my hand. “What miracle could happen today?”

Tears fell onto her lips as she smiled. “A shower.” Ever so innocently, she added, “I’ve never experienced one.”

All jealousy gone, my jaw practically unhinged. We’d been so busy with fucking, it was possible three days of sex could’ve been peeled off our sated skin, had we been fully human.

In the bathroom, reaching under the spraying water to perfect a temperature of hot yet not scorching, Rosa stood by my side, watching with intrigue.

I gestured to the water. “What do you think?”

She might have been a fallen deity, or a survivor of hell, but she still had an innocence about her. There were so many tiers to her brilliance … her unworldliness. Like a wide-eyed child, she slowly reached out, placing her hand under the water … then smiled.

At me.

Like I had offered her her very own set of wings.

“Onus,” she whispered with a giddiness not expected from a woman who oozed sex appeal.

Captured by her fascination over such a simple act that I had taken for granted all my life, I watched as she, timidly and excitedly, stepped into the tub. Hands out to her sides, as if not sure what to expect, Rosa slowly backed her way under the water.

Yeah, with the curtain open, water was splashing on me and the floor, but I didn’t give one damn. This sight was so bewildering, a waterfall could have been flooding my bathroom, and I wouldn’t have lifted a finger to stop it.

She gasped as the water sprayed higher on her back. Then, when finally touching her shoulders, she gasped again. This time she let her head tilt back so that water could soak her hair.

An exhale, rich with appreciation, drifted out of her mouth like an answered prayer.

Eyes closed, she let the water bless her.

Water was gliding over her breasts and down past her perfect ass. Nonetheless, I couldn’t stop staring at her face and how at peace it was. That’s why I was so shocked when she started to cry. “Not every human has running water.”

Again, my jaw dropped. This shower was for her, yet she made it about others in need.

She took another step back, letting her head hang forward. Long, wet strands hung as she cried some more. “Every human should have such a thing.”

Despite her efforts to act like a human, Rosa was clearly always going to have the heart of an angel.
