“No, but I’m curious why that’s on your mind after how many times I just made you cum.”

I smiled when he spoke against my shoulder then kissed the same spot where the warmth of his breath fanned over my skin. “What we just did is how children are created.”

He pulled me closer, moving his hand further down my thighs then between them. “Agreed, but that thought about our future children was very specific.”

“Eliashasan arranged marriage. Youhadone. It’s common in your world.Expected. I’m just wondering if you’ll expect that of our children.”

“My marriage wasn’t about The Collective. More about my father’s greed. Sasha and I had nothing to do with an expectation associated with my lifestyle.”

“But Elias’s was. What if they want that from our kids?”

“It won’t happen.”

“Do you have the right to say no?”

I turned to face him, placing a hand on his face. He moved his hand to my lower back and brought me closer. “I do whatever the fuck I want, Jhorie, even if it means walking away from all of this. My connection with the families allows me to do good things I wouldn’t otherwise be able to accomplish, but it will never come before anyone inthisfamily, more importantly you and our children. So yes, I have the right to say no.”

“Then that’s all I need.”

“Now tell me where all this is coming from.”

“I ran into Sasha today…” He stilled and his muscles locked briefly but his expression remained placid.

“What did she say?”

“A lot but most of what she shared was just an emotional rant about how you ruined her life and stole her family’s legacy.”

“I didn’t steal anything from her nor did I ruin her life.”

I smiled and kissed him. “I know, but the one thing she did mention was you potentially using our children as pawns to get something you want.”

“And you believed I would do that?”

“You personally? No. You would never use our children, but I don’t know how all this works. I don’t know what they have the power to force you to do.”

“They can’t force me to do anything. Like I said, I’ll walk away.”

“You walking away changes your life in a lot of ways, Ezekiel.”

“I have money and businesses not connected to them. My life will change but not that much. You don’t have to worry about what our lives will look like if it comes down to me walking away from The Collective.”

“It’s not about the money.” My brows drew in and he leaned in to kiss me.

“I know you don’t give a shit about the money but it has to be considered. We’ll be fine financially. More than fine. In fact, to prove my point, you should let me buy you a car.”

He smiled smugly and I rolled my eyes.

“Your brother is a snitch.”

“He’s considerate of the safety for the women in this family, as am I. I had already been thinking about how to broach the subject.”

“I’m not getting rid of my car…”

He opened his mouth to argue but I silenced him with a kiss, speaking against his mouth. “But, I won’t turn down a new one.”

“Good. So how about this? I’ll put the money in your account and you can purchase whatever you would like. That way you get to maintain your independence and I don’t have to worry about you being stuck somewhere because of inadequate transportation.”

I rolled my eyes. “I’m not that bad. You can buy me whatever you want. I trust you will never not allow me to beme.”
