“Happiness.” She winked at me and took her son’s hand after he tucked his iPad under one arm so we could leave.

I was on my way to officially being Ezekiel’s wife.

twenty-two

Ezekiel.

When Jhorie walked into my office, I instantly knew I made the right decision. Everything about this woman gave me a sense of home. I’d never had that. Well maybe when I was a young boy, before everything in our worlds changed. When my parents realized their expectations of Elias were never going to come to fruition, they exiled us both.

I would never in my life confess those feelings to him, but they were very real. At some point we were both deemed no longer deserving of their love. To them, loving me would have rendered me weak and I had to be conditioned, rathertrained,to be the future leader of our family. My parents treated me differently and what they saw as honor I felt as obligation. The love no longer existed. Home no longer meant the same thing as it had before.

But now, this woman was home for me.

I never wanted to be without her. I wasnotgoing to be without her. This was fast and might not make sense to a lot of people. Hell, it barely made sense to me but this, what we had, worked. I was content making critical decisions about the rest of my life with Jhorie. Nothing about a life with her scared me other than not having her be a part of my future.

“I should have changed.” Her eyes danced over me as she walked into my personal space. I was sitting behind my desk so I opened my legs, allowing her access to step between them.

“Why?”

“You’re in a suit and I’m…” Her eyes lowered to the jeans, sweatshirt, and running shoes she wore.

“Your clothes don’t matter. I’m marrying you, not your outfit.”

She released an exasperated groan which had me shifting my hands to the back of her thighs and moving her in closer. The light scent of fruit danced through the air. “If it makes you feel any better, I can change. I have gym clothes here somewhere.”

“You don’t have to change. You shouldn’t change because seeing you naked might delay things a bit.”

I chuckled, pushing my chair back enough to create space to stand. Once I extended to my full height, I cuffed her face and leveled mine so our eyes fastened. “The next time I make you cum, you will have my last name. So if you want me to change, I will. No delays are happening, Jhorie.”

My dick contested but I was sticking with my word. We’d sign our names then I would consider having my wife naked, bent over my desk. For now, my goal was to seal the deallegally.

She groaned again. “You shouldn’t say things like that if you want me to cooperate, Omari.”

“I didn’t think I needed to convince you. Are you sure this is what you want?”

She grinned, lifting so her mouth brushed mine. “Yep, this is what I want.”

“Keep in mind, it's simply a formality. We can celebrate later however you want.”

“We already discussed this. We already agreed.”

“We did but things change. Women are known for changing their minds.” He grinned and kissed me.

“I haven’t.”

“Good, neither did I.” I reached around her and pressed the intercom. “Elizabeth, please send Judge Matthews in please.”

Judge Maddox Matthews.

Her eyes flicked up to mine. “You have a judge here?”

“Would you prefer a clergy member? I should be able to get one here—”

“No, I just…” She rolled her eyes. “I sometimes forget who you are.”

I smirked and kissed her. “I think I appreciate that most about you. I’m simply your husband.”

“Not yet, Omari,” Matthews said as he walked into my office. I looked at him over Jhorie’s shoulder and she turned her head, taking him in. “She still has time to change her mind and so do I?”
