“I’ll be in touch.”

I watched her collect her purse and leave my office. Her thick curvy body caused my dick to ache a little more with the realization that she was the last pussy I had enjoyed. Unfortunately, I would have to rectify my physical needs with someone else because Jhorie was off limits. That didn’t, however, stop me from making a call as soon as she was gone.

As I stared out the window with one arm folded over my chest, a slight scowl in place and my phone to my ear, I narrowed my stare at the city below, waiting for Samiya to answer. She did so cheerfully, as was her personality, however it still placed a smile on my face.

“She’s amazing right?”

“She is.”

“You’re welcome.”

I chuckled. “You’re basically dumping this woman at my doorstep. Why should I thank you?”

“Because she’s amazing. Jhorie is brilliant, Ez. So damn smart and more qualified than I ever was.”

“Butyoureached out to me.”

“I did. I have a great heart and am dedicated to change but life is moving a lot faster than I planned. Zoree is mostly benefits and functions. I’m more of the programs and recruitment. My company is expanding. We have orders from all over the country now and Noel just celebrated her third birthday. I haven’t told anyone yet but I’m expecting again.”

“Well shit, congratulations and now it makes sense why you brought her on.”

“Thank you. As much as I’d love to work hands on with this, it’s simply not possible. I’m providing you with an alternate and a damn good one too.”

I couldn’t argue the point. Jhorie Abraham was a more than adequate replacement.

“You are.”

“So thank me.” The amusement in her voice had me smiling once more.

“Thank you, Mrs. Jones.”

“Again, you’re welcome, Mr. Omari.”

“She mentioned that she’s living at The Manor.”

Samiya released a sigh. “She is but not because I didn’t urge her to find more suitable accommodations. She’s from Crescent Manor. Feels comfortable living there. Things aren’t great—”

“Which is why we’re working so hard to change that.”

“Workingto change things, Ez. The change hasn’t happened and she lives there now.”

“I’ll put word out that she’s to be left alone.”

“Thank you. You can also offer an alternative. You know a lot of people and you, personally, have properties.”

“I do but if I’m right about Jhorie, she won’t accept and will be offended by the offer. Especially if I’m the one offering.”

“Did something happen?”

“No, but Jhorie is a prideful woman. In a good way.”

“She is and you’re right. She’s determined to be in the trenches which I can’t really blame her for. She’s very determined to stay connected.”

“That she is but also, based on the resume you forwarded me, she’s very accomplished. Is living in The Manor a choice or a necessity? She mentioned speaking with you about what the job entailed. You’re not hustling her, are you, Sami?”

“Absolutely not. She will be well compensated for the position. She can more than afford to live somewhere nicer. I think the decision is more about the need to relate to those who will be depending on her to bring change.”

“You sure it’s not personal. There’s nothing going on I need to be concerned about?”
