“He said some shit I didn’t like. Some dumb shit.”

“What did he say?”

I was curious.

“Said the food was shit. My mama’s company runs the kitchen. Nigga was disrespectful. I didn’t like that or his face. I handled both.”

I chuckled, walking over to the guy. “Do you know who I am?”

He nodded sharply and wiped blood from his mouth. “Omari. But you’re the business one. Not the crazy…”

I didn’t let him finish. I punched him in the eye that wasn’t swollen and his head snapped back before he mugged me again.

“You want to try that again?” I stepped forward, leaning over him. “Who am I?”

“Ezekiel Omari.”

“Better. Now, who do you work for?”

“I’m not telling you that.”

I smirked at the determined look on his face. Stupid.

“You were caught selling product in this club without permission. You can either tell me and I’ll bring the issue to whoever you work for or I let him handle it. I’m pretty sure he’s going to shoot you.”

The guy’s lip twitched and he curled his fingers into his palm. That one good eye, which was now slowly swelling, not so discreetly rolled over to the gun Kyon still had his fingers wrapped around.

He shrugged as if unbothered but he was nervous. His fist clenched and his knee continuously bounced while his eyes kept moving between me and Kyon. “He can shoot me. I don’t give a fuck. The cops will be up in here too.”

I exhaled an annoyed sigh. Whereas I thought I wanted a distraction from thoughts of Jhorie, this was not the distraction I’d hoped for. This man truly was a dumbass.

“You know me, man, which means you know the cops won’t show up if I don’t want them to. Last chance for you to walk out of here. Who do you work for?”

That eye shifted to the gun one last time before he made a decision. A very smart decision.

“Lynx.”

I should have known. Lynx was one of many who came up after I put a bullet in Samson’s head for fucking with my brother. The void he left opened the door for various low levels to try and build a name for themselves. Lynx was one of them. Drug dealers weren’t my focus, but because this one was infringing on a business deal I’d made with Kyon, I was involved.

“I’ll make sure he understands our zoning guidelines. As for you, I suggest you leave this club before I do. If you don’t, I can’t guarantee Kyon won’t still shoot you after I’m gone.”

His eyes shot over to Kyon as if requesting permission to move.

“Get the fuck up. I swear on my mama if you ever show your face here again, I’m not making a phone call. I’ll handle that shit on my own because I’m gonna take it personal.” The guy stood hesitantly and looked at me.

“His decision, not mine.” I shrugged and he moved to the door. Before he could get through it, Kyon spoke again.

“You know what, fuck that. Ay, Diggs…” One of the men guarding the door stepped into our line of sight, his big body almost completely filling the doorframe.

“What’s up, Ky?”

“Take him to the kitchen and make sure he apologizes to everyone in therepersonally. If it doesn’t seem genuine, take him out back…” Kyon lifted the gun. Diggs grinned and nodded. “Got you, Ky. Ay, bring yo’ ass.” He fisted the guy’s shirt and dragged him over the threshold.

“Is he going to…” I held my hand up. “You know what, never mind. I don’t want to know. We done here?”

“You gon’ handle that?”

“I will.”
