His hand landed on my hip and I was nudged into his side as we moved through the loud, dimly lit building, packed with bodies. Heavy on the loud so Ezekiel leaned close to my ear as we moved around the dance floor, bypassing it. “Aso.”

“Shit, are you serious?” I lifted my eyes to his but he was focused on our path. As soon as we made it to what I assumed was the Blackout section—the entrance was near the wall and hidden from the rest of the club—Ezekiel unhooked the black leather barrier closing off the space and let me enter first. Three large glass partitions separated our section and somewhat muffled the music, just enough to make it easier to communicate without yelling.

“Very serious, I take it you know who he is?”

I grinned as he sat and pulled me down next to him. “Doyouknow who he is?”

He smiled leisurely and nodded. “Are you misjudging me again?”

“No, I’m using context clues. You had the old school R&B station on your satellite radio both times I was with you.”

“I like good music but I’m multifaceted so I know who he is.”

“Are you insinuating that Aso isn’t good music?” I reared my head back and turned my body just enough to face him. The movement caused my already short dress to slide further up my thighs. Ezekiel’s eyes lowered to the exposed skin before his dark look met mine again.

“I like Aso, but mostly his first two albums. The newer stuff feels like he’s reaching.”

“You don’t like ‘Make Me’?”

He looked me over, eyes lingering on my face before they dropped to my lips. “I do. That’s an interesting choice.”

“Why, because it’s about a powerful man willing to hand over control to his woman?”

“The power struggle is not just in his life but also in the bedroom. So, again, interesting choice. Is that something that intrigues you, control in the bedroom?”

“Maybe.”

My gaze lowered to his jeans. His dick was present but I was intimately acquainted enough to know he wasn’t fully aroused. For some reason my mind drifted to the thought of making him lose control, here in this club. His dick in my mouth, his restraint demolished. Heat moved through my body at an accelerated rate. The thought of the weight and feel of him on my tongue sent a stab of need between my legs.

When I brought my eyes back to his, they smoldered with lust and conflict. I was also conflicted because making this very confident and powerful man lose control would work in my favor. It would no doubt lead to him putting his mouth on me and providing the best orgasms I’d ever experienced in my life and fuck, I wanted that.

“Well maybe I can be the one to sate your curiosity.” The moment ended seconds later when he lifted a device from the table and began swiping.

“Do you have a preferred drink or would you like for me to decide?” His eyes remained on the screen and I was grateful because I needed the moment to exhale the tension from his offer.

“You can decide.” My voice was a reflection of my internal struggle. He knew it too because he smirked and nodded. A few minutes later I had his attention again.

“‘Love is Power’ would be my favorite.”

“Why?”

I knew the meaning of the song. I wanted his thoughts on why it was his favorite.

“When a man loves a woman, she’s both his strength and weakness. She holds his fate in her hands. Because she makes him weak, she has the power to destroy him. If she truly loves him, she never will. That’s a beautiful thing and I want that.”

“I know marriages aren’t perfect and sometimes end but they aren’t all bad. You were married, you didn’t have that with your wife?”

He studied me for a long moment and his gaze turned cold. “The entire time we were married she was in love with another man, so no, unfortunately not.”

My lips parted. I was seconds from apologizing, but he shut down the thought.

“Don’t apologize. She’s the only one who should be sorry.”

I stared at him but didn’t say anything because what could I? I felt the warmth of his hand on my leg, moving slowly from my knee up my thigh but stopping before his touch crossed over to being inappropriate.

“I suppose that’s only fair because I never loved her either.”

The moment was weighty and I didn’t want talk about his former marriage to ruin our evening so I stood, tugged my dress down, and extended a hand.
