Her smile stretched wider. “Nope.”
“Jhorie…”
“There’s nothing to tell. She was nice. We had a good talk. Thank you for bringing me and for letting me meet her.”
“You’re welcome. Although I’m not so sure that was such a great idea.”
She grinned, rolling her eyes. “What’s the plan for today?”
“Our day is flexible. We have somewhere to be tonight, but the day is open. You’re welcome to do whatever you want.”
“What are you doing?”
I eyed her carefully, the slight pinch of her brows and the way she tucked her lip between her teeth. My dick wanted to respond but I decided I wouldn’t push. Her distance after our experience at McCall’s bothered me.
“No definitive plans. What would you like to do?”
She shrugged again and looked around. “Is hanging out here an option?”
“It is. There’s plenty to do at the hotel or nothing at all if you would prefer that.” I smirked and she smiled softly.
“I should have brought a suit. I wouldn’t mind hanging by the pool.” She stared blankly into open space as if thinking, then glanced at me. “But you said business trip so I hadn’t planned on a lazy day or swimming.”
“Business is tonight and we can get you a suit.”
“No, it’s fine. I could just as easily spend the day here. This place is verysoothing.”
I nodded but pressed the point, mostly because Jhorie in a bathing suit, lounging by the pool was the kind of day I would thoroughly enjoy. “It’s not an issue. I can make a call to get what you need.”
“You have a friend here that you helped start a swimwear line who refuses your money but sends you cases of bikinis?”
I chuckled, shaking my head. “No, my pull here is by way of my black card. I don’t have any favors to call in.”
“I see. That makes you and I pretty much equal here, Omari.”
“We are, give or take about ten figures in our bank accounts.” I winked and her mouth dropped open then her eyes rolled.
“Maybe I have ten figures in my bank account.”
“You’re right, I shouldn’t assume.” I lifted my cell phone and turned my attention back to Jhorie. “What else do you need to enjoy your day?”
“If you’re offering, just some really strong drinks, good food, and sunscreen. SPF50. That’s all.”
“You sure,” I teased. Her list wasn’t much but I couldn’t resist.
“I’m easy.”
“Okay then, consider it done. Let me make a few calls. You mind if I join you?”
“Do you really think I would say no since you’re footing the bill?”
“You could, but I hope you wouldn’t.”
“Are you requesting my time, Omari?”
“I ampersonallyasking instead of having Elizabeth call to do it for me.”
She grinned and shrugged. “I can survive a pool day with you.”
