Then again, don’t worry. I fully plan on putting you to bed this evening.

I typed, then deleted. Typed again, deleting that as well before settling on…

Then I’ll see you tonight, Omari. You better make it worth my while.

I intend to.

By eight I was dressed in a beautiful black silk slip dress. It was simple but elegant, with a low plunging neckline, fitted enough to show my curves but still loose enough to be comfortable. I wore my hair in a loose twist pinned behind my head and kept my makeup light.

There were also matching heels that tied up my calves with black crystal straps along with a note that said I was only to wear what was left for me, which meant nothing beneath it.

As promised, a driver arrived for me at nine and I was taken to The Metropolitan, to the same suite Ezekiel and I had shared the night we met. When I stepped off the elevator, he was waiting, dressed in all black—a shirt and slacks that complemented his muscular physique and screamed class. Ezekiel Omari was always on his grown man shit and I loved that about him. His gaze swept over me, leaving a blaze of warmth that had my skin tingling and anxious to feel his actual touch. This man was gorgeous and tempting in the most unsettling ways.

“My perception of what you would look like in this dress does not live up to how you actually look wearing it.” He stalked toward me with that dominant and cocky stride of his, planted a kiss on my shoulder, and stepped back to hand over a bouquet of black calla lilies. The display was exquisite with a red wax seal similar to the arrangement in Cress’s dressing room the night of her performance.

“These are unique.”

“I asked for an arrangement that would match your dress. She nailed it.” He winked and extended a hand. I accepted, cradling the bouquet in the opposite arm.

“Why are we here?”

“This is where it all started but that night we had different expectations.”

“You can’t erase the past, Ezekiel.”

“I don’t intend to, but I would like to adjust the terms we agreed upon that night.”

“Hmm…”

“You object?”

“Nope, not at all.”

“Good. I would have been extremely disappointed if you weren’t agreeable to our first date as acouple.”

“This is a date?” I grinned.

“It is. The first of many, so I decided to put a little extra on it. I hope it meets your approval.” He extended a hand and I glanced around the open space.

The suite was decorated with candles and about a dozen more bouquets of the same flowers he’d greeted me with, only they were in crystal vases placed throughout the room. Soft music played in the background, some type of jazz I wasn’t familiar with but it was soothing and sexy so it fit the mood.

After we entered the living room, and Ezekiel took the flowers from me and placed them on the counter, I watched as he poured wine. He looked like a damn ad for how to seduce a woman and I felt a little like I was going to pass out. I had experienced him. All of this man. But this atmosphere combined with the promises he’d made in our texts and the visual of him was a lot.

“You okay?”

“Mmhm.” I accepted the glass of wine he handed over and downed half of it. When I felt the heat of his gaze and my eyes made it to his again, he smiled so sexily.

“Why are you nervous?”

“Because this is a lot.”

He chuckled and I swallowed more wine. “Nothing you haven’t experienced before.”

“True, but not all of this at once. There are a lot of moving pieces to this, toyou.”

I turned toward the window that sparkled with the glow from the city below us. Even with my back to him, I felt his gaze on me.
