That was it! That was it!

She’d been waiting forever!

Oakley heard the theme song, and she grabbed her drawing paper and her crayons. She wasn’t supposed to have crayons.

Crayons weakened kids’ brains. Made their heads really heavy or something.

Oakley loved crayons. They made pretty colors everywhere. And all the kids onScraggle-Poppsused crayons.

The nanny got them for her for being really good and letting Nanny sleep really late every day Grandfather wasn’t there. Oakley just had to take care of Orion while Nanny slept.

Oakley and Nanny had taught him how to poop in the toilet already, anyway. That was the main reason Nanny got mad at him all the time before. Diapers were really, really gross.

But he used the bathroom the right way all the time now.

Mostly. Sometimes he had accidents.

But he was still a little kid.

She hurried. She’d been waiting forever!

It was about writing letters. Like they did in history or something. She just hadn’t remembered what the episode was called.

She’d had to waitall day.

There were still people out there who drove letters to people’s houses. Postmen. That’s what they were called. She had already written the perfect letter.

Now she had to practice writing the address.

This was the episode she’d been waiting forever for.

Oakley listened very carefully to Jilly and Milly Silly. Oakley did exactly what they did. But she put the numbers and letters she’d found on the internet instead.

Oakley folded her letter with the picture of her mommy on it very, very carefully. She put it in her envelope with the special sticker on the corner.

It was ready.

She knew when the postman drove by every day. Oakley had watched from her special window on the third floor. She could see everywhere up there.

The driveway was very far away.

Orion was taking his nap.

Nanny was drinking her stinky stuff.

This was the only chance she was going to get.

Oakley slipped her tennis shoes on and tied them very carefully.

This was it.

She had to be really brave.

She wasn’t supposed to go outside.Ever.

If Grandfather came back and caught her…he’d probably hurt her really bad. Or make her godownstairs.

When ladies went downstairs, they never came back up again.
