I nod and look at the poster. The sad thought hits me that none of my parents are here to see it, but I know my mother is smiling down at me in heaven, forever proud of me.

As if sensing my thoughts Jericho kisses the top of my head.

“It’s going to be okay.”

I nod again. “I think so.”

“Good, now let’s go create some new memories, Mrs. Grayson. I get to spend the rest of the night with the most beautiful woman in the world.”

“Thank you. Mr. Grayson, let’s go.”

Jericho

I hold my nephew against my chest, rocking him to sleep.

Lorenzo is four months old and already has me hooked around his little fingers.

I’m sitting on the terrace watching my wife, and our friends and family gather together for our bar-be-cue.

Although Knight and Grandfather are doing all the cooking, it was my idea now that the weather has gotten warmer.

I can’t believe that in a few months River and I will be celebrating our one year anniversary.

It’s been quite a year and I love her more and more every day. She’s talking heartily with Aurora and the two are laughing.

Knight joins me, sitting in the chair opposite.

He laughs as he looks at me holding his baby, rocking in the chair and humming the tune to three blind mice, the only nursery rhyme I can remember.

“My God, this is classic,” he says. “I don’t know who is more obsessed with my little boy, me or you.”

“Me,” I tease him. “I’m Uncle Jericho.”

“Do you plan to put him down anytime soon?”

“Nah, I’m good. While you people eat, I’ll happily be on baby duty.” I nuzzle my chin against Lorenzo’s thick tuft of hair.

“My God, I never thought I’d live to see this day. You know you might be giving your wife ideas of having kids soon.”

“That’s the idea bro.” I smile wide at him. “Whenever she’s ready I’m ready.”

He nods, looking proud of me. “That’s good to hear, Jericho. That’s really good to hear.”

“I’m glad you’re happy.”

River looks over at me and waves, giving me a bright smile as she looks me over holding the baby. I have no doubt that we’ll have our own kids soon, we’ve already spoken about it. She wants a year with the ballet before we start really trying, but if it happens before it happens before.

I’m good with either option.

“I’d better get back to the cooking.” Knight stands and taps my shoulders then he returns to the group.

Just then Luc comes up the path looking flustered. He messaged earlier to let me know he was running late.

“You will not believe what just happened to me,” he huffs throwing himself down on the chair.

I straighten. “What happened now? Weren’t you on cloud nine only a few hours ago?” He’d gone to Vegas last week and hooked up with a girl he described as unforgettable.
