“You’re sweet,” she squeaks with tears in her voice.

“You’re sweet,” I counter, kissing her again.

“Woohoo!” My sister obnoxiously announces her presence beside us and surprises me by not only putting an arm around me, but Gwen also.

I look curiously between the two of them. “Wait, are you guys… good?”

“Yeah,” Gwen sighs. “She’s your sister. She didn’t mean to hurt anyone and… I’m actually glad she banged Scott.”

I raise my eyebrows at her in question. Does that mean…?

“Because then I wouldn’t have gotten together with this Jedi lover.” She pokes at my chest, making my heart pound hard and my lightsaber spring to action in my pants. “And I came rushing over as soon as I figured it out,” she promises before adding, “well, okay we made a couple of stops along the way.”

“Where?” I chuckle as my sister sips from a straw in a hard seltzer can.

“We might have applied a coat of cow shit to Scott’s snowboard, wrapped it in toilet paper, and dropped it off outside his door.” Carly shrugs.

“You dumped him?” I ask hopefully, inwardly celebrating.

She nods quietly, taking another sip with her eyes cast to the floor.

I know she is feeling scared and lonely, like she won’t find someone who cares about her, but I have a feeling Gwen and I can help her work on herself.

My attention is abruptly brought back to Gwen when a passerby bumps into her, making her stumble on her feet. Her adorably drunk ass falls against me as she throws her arms around my neck. God, it feels good to have her hanging on me as she looks up at me dazedly.

“What?” She tries to quirk an eyebrow.

“This is how we met,” I marvel down at her.

“Me drunk at the Silver Lining.” She dreamily giggles up at me, her eyes going wide. “Well, you know what happens next, right?”

“What’s that?” I ask, playing dumb just for the joy of hearing her say it as she pulls me toward the door.

“You take my drunk ass home!” she announces, sweeping an arm up in the air in presentation whilst knocking someone’s mojito off a passing waitress’s tray.

“I’ll pay for that,” I murmur as the waitress frowns, tucking her tray under her arm and toweling up the mess. Then I turn back to my goddess of destruction. “You’re right about that,” I affirm her proclamation of the nights remaining plans. “But one thing’s happening differently this time…”

“What is it?” She giggles up at me sneakily like we’re both in on some secret.

“I’m joining you in the bed tonight, and Grogu takes the couch,” I huff.

“Oh, come on. He’s so cute. I love him!” she protests as we head out the door and into the snowy night.

I whirl her around and pull her into me so I can bring my mouth down by her ear.

“He’s just a baby, remember? He can’t be seeing all the things I plan to do to you.”

“With a lightsaber?” She gasps with wide eyes.

“After I sober you up a little.” I nod. “And let my mouth spend a little time between your legs.”

“Oh…” she moans before pulling on my arm and yanking me in the direction of my car. “Let’s go, my dirty-talking Jedi knight!”

Gwen

The next two months went by at ludicrous speed. Get this… I’m a snowboarder now! Okay, I’m not great. I still fall every single time I get off the chairlift, but I always have a hunky, nerdy boyfriend to pick me up when I do. Other than that, I’ve actually gotten pretty good. I can turn both heel-side and toe-side on my own, and I’m getting better at carving turns. I’ll never win a medal at the Winter Games, but I’m getting good enough to enjoy it.
