“Well, if you want, I could stop by every so often,” she offers, her voice light. “It’s not that bad of a drive from here…?”

“It’s an hour and change,” I supply, the wheels starting to turn in my head as a spark of relief comes to life in my chest.

“Right, so that’s not bad. I can drive down in my free time and make sure everything is as it should be,” she lifts her shoulder.

“You would do that?” I ask, not about to turn down this offer. It’s a huge solid she’d be doing for me, not to mention I find myself not hating the idea of her in my house.

“Of course,” she murmurs, starting to trace little hearts on the space of sheet beside her. “I won’t let anyone mess with Pop’s house,” she gives me a fierce smile and I’m overwhelmed in this moment. I don’t think I ever even paused to think what it would be like to have someone else to care about my well-being besides Pops. And though she only met him a handful of times in passing, here’s Luna, lying beautifully naked across from me, telling me she’ll make sure I have a home to come back to.

“Come here,” I whisper, all of a sudden feeling like she’s too far away. Lifting the sheet, I help her shift over to drape her warm, naked body over mine and wrapping us up together, skin to skin. Never in my life have I felt so safe as I run my both my hands through her hair and trail down her back.

“This feels so nice, K,” she sighs heavily, her sweet breath breezing across the skin of my chest.

“Thank you,” I whisper into the top of her hair, deciding to do one small thing that scares me. I want to show her the inside of me, just a little… just to see what happens.

“For what?”

“For coming back into my life,” I let the words roll out, biting the bullet.

She hums a thought in response as she starts to draw her little hearts just below my collar bone. “I was just in a bar at the right time. “You came to me, K. You came back to into my life.”

I consider this a moment, my lips finding her temple as I breathe her in. Letting her know how I felt came with a small side of nerves, but it didn’t hurt. On the contrary it’s rewarding.

“It’s a good place to be,” I tell her, but I’m lying. It’s the best place to be. It’s home.

LUNA

“That’s beautiful.” Kaleb’s raspy morning voice is close behind me as I peer in close at the small silhouette of a bird against my dusky sky, trying to smudge its wings a little.

“Thank you.” I smile warmly at him before turning back to my work, trying not to get distracted by his bare, tatted torso that he’s apparently been ripping to shreds for the last three years. I hear him set his coffee mug down behind me before my hair is gathered in his hands, stroking the strands before sweeping them to the side and laying his sinfully soft and warm lips to my neck before wrapping his arms around my shoulders.

“What’s it for?” he asks in my ear.

“It’s my final for my abstract landscapes class,” I tell him, setting my crayon down and waving a hand at the unfinished project. “I’m thinking the main street of a small town will be the focal, but you know me and drawing,” I chuckle. “I’m saving that for last.”

“Speaking of small towns,” he mumbles into my ear before giving it a playful nibble that makes shivers break out down my neck.

“Oh yeah,” I recall, “when do you need to get moving?” I ask, remembering that he’s got work to get done back home.

“Actually, I was wondering if you wanted to come with me…” his lips come down to my shoulder and linger as he waits for a response. Another warm shiver.

“What?” I heard him fine, I just can’t believe it. I was going to take this encounter for what it was and not worry about where we went from here. I wasn’t expecting him to extend it, being a guy and all.

“Come back with me,” he repeats, straightening up. “We’ll make a little road trip out of it.”

“Well, I’d love to see where you’re from, but what brought this on?” Okay, I’m a little anxious, I’ll admit. I guess I just want to have a good idea where his head’s at before I go driving back to his hometown with him.

“I leave in a couple weeks. You should see the house if you’re going to be looking in on it,” he reasons. “Plus, it will give you inspiration for your assignment,” he nods at my canvas.

“Well,” I begin and turn to face him, “I guess I can’t argue with any of that.” I raise a hand to push my hair away from my face as he gives me a victorious grin.

“Good,” he pulls me close by my hips, “and if you don’t have a summer job or classes, maybe you could spend some time between here and there, you know, make it look like someone’s living there?”

“Totally,” I nod. I work for myself for the most part, booking painting parties for people that want to do group paintings. Paint and sips are big right now, so I do alright. And of course, a little surplus of money sometimes magically appears in my bank account whether I want it to or not. Thanks, Dad. I told him when he and my little brother, Matthew, moved me in here last year that I wanted to go it alone, see what it was like to struggle a little bit and provide for myself. Clearly, he didn’t give a shit about what I said.

“Perfect.” He leans in to kiss my lips and whispers, “Why don’t you get an overnight bag together?” causing my sex to wake up, warmth flowing towards it from the tatted god whose pheromones are suddenly wafting off his bare skin as his lips linger on mine. “I’ll bring you back tomorrow night if you have a class to be back at,” he mutters before pressing his lips a little harder against mine. I’m excited for this, but the way he’s got me going, I’m wondering if he wouldn’t mind showing me that magnificent thing he can do with his cock again.
