“Pass,” she says with a forced smirk that drops the moment she turns back to the bay.

“What? Is it a secret or something?” I laugh, taking another drink of my beer.

Her eyes hold mine. “Don’t we all have secrets?”

I concede, nodding my head and leaning forward. “Okay, how about this one: are you going back?”

She huffs, her full, pink lips pursing. “Fuck no. I’ll sleep on the beach until I figure out a way to get back to the US.”

I shrug. “I don’t know if I can help with the second part, but I have an extra room in my apartment if you’d like to crash there.”

She stares at me in the same way she did last night when she was deciding what job better suited my looks. Her eyes linger on my lips, her cheeks blushing before she shakes her head and locks her eyes on mine. “No, I think I’ll just do as I planned and sleep on the beach. I have some things I need to think about…orforgetis the better word.”

She tips the beer back and chugs the rest before standing. “Thank you for the ride and drink, but I better go.”

I catch her hand before she can walk away, standing and looking down at her. “What would you like to forget—”

Maybe it’s the adrenaline running in her veins or the beer she just chugged, but suddenly, her lips are slamming against mine.

As quickly as she kisses me, she pulls back. “I’m sorry—”

I fist her hair and pull her back to me, stopping her words with my mouth. She tastes like lime andDos Equis. A combination that burns across my tongue in a tantalizing way when I deepen the kiss.

I pull back, looking into her eyes before kissing her swollen lips once more. “I can help you forget and give you new memories.”

Her eyes harden as though I’ve said the wrong thing, her hands pushing against my chest, and I let her go.

“I’m trying to forget the last guy who gave me memories. I don’t need a stranger doing it to me now, Mero.”

Alvaro’s green eyes flash in my mind and it pisses me off, making me step into her space and grip the tops of her arms.

My voice comes out as a growl. “I’m not him.” I take a clearing breath, my eyes casting around us before landing back on hers. “Besides, isn’t it better that I’m a stranger? Why don’t you find out what it’s like to be with one?”

I lean down, kissing her lips and sighing when she kisses me back. She fists my shirt in her hands as I slide my fingers through her hair.

Kissing her is all-consuming. She moves and sighs like we’re two long lost lovers meeting once again, the time and distance between us having no effect on the hunger that starves us for one another.

But we’re not lovers. She belongs to Alvaro and I want to only use her against him. It’s unfortunate that she’ll be a casualty in this cartel world.

When we separate, I let go of her hair only to wrap my fingers around the nape of her neck. “No strings, no ties.No memories. It’s just sex,Diabla.”

She steps away from me, her brow cocking as she walks toward the bikes with a teasing smile.

“Fine, but I wanna see your stripper moves.”

I run over to her, wrapping my arms around her waist before lifting her, chuckling when she squeals and grips my shoulders.

“Be my backpack.” I drop her onto my seat, pushing her chocolate hair over her shoulder. “I’ll make sure the bar keeps the Ducati safe.”

Her brows fold. “Really?”

Shit, I fucked up.

How can I play the part of a regular person, yet still act as though I can command people?Fuck, she makes me forget my plans, myvendetta.

“I mean,” I try to fix it, “I’m a regular here. I know the owner so I can get them to take care of your bike, if you want.”

Her brows continue to hold firmly, making my stomach sink. I’ve never given a fuck who knows about me, but I need this girl to think I’m just a regular Joe, a stranger with no strings attached. Still, I can’t risk taking her bike to my place. If Alvaro is like me, there’s a tracker on it somewhere and I don’t want to risk Marío being able to see where she is.
