Alvaro closes his eyes, before replying, “I sent him into Herrera territory to get his sister back and any information he can get on Romero. I was just about to call him.”

I nod my head, liking the lie he says so easily.

“Then why am I getting reports of you in the south?”

Alvaro laughs darkly. “How else do you expect me to do recon? Trust your men who don’t know their asses from their heads?”

I fold my lips inward and quickly type out a message before sending it to Alvaro with a gesture for him to check it.

“Ah,” he says just as his father is about to speak, “Vicente just texted me.”

“Tell me,” Marío demands.

Alvaro reads my message. “We’re on La Roqueta island, surrounded by guards and Federales. I haven’t found Vicenta yet, but I know she’s close by. It’ll take some convincing to gain Romero’s trust, so I need at least a week to get her away from the motherfucker.”

Marío laughs, his voice booming through the speaker and making my jaw grind. “I like him. He’ll make a good soldier. Tell him he has one week to get the job done or I’ll set fire to every Herrera stronghold with himandher inside.”

“Sabes que, Jefe,” Alvaro says before Marío can hang up, “I’d appreciate it if you didn’t question my loyalty to you. I’ve done a shit ton more than anyone working for you ever has. I may have lusted after Vicenta, but I'd rather see her married to you than in the hands of that Herrera scum.”

Marío hums, the puff of a cigar loud before he responds. “You get her back to me, and I’ll never question where you stand again.”

“Ta bueno,” Alvaro answers before hanging up and looking back at me. “We give her the week she wants and then we end this motherfucker.”

I grip his hand in mine, giving him a nod while my mind is on the situationDiabla’s father is in. I need to get into the Banderas estate and get that motherfucker out of there before he’s killed in Vicenta’s name.

But how?

VICENTA

“Ya Quiero” by Domino Saints

“Can you teach me to shoot?” I question as we lounge on the sofa that unfolds into a giant ass bed watchingSicarioon the giant screen in the living room, while Katalina and Vicente shadow box in the backyard. Turns out, Vicente had a good reason to run from her the other day; that girl can hold her own in a boxing match. Now they’ve become sparring partners everyday, saving my poor hands from taking Vicente’s powerful punches. They hurt even with padding.

Romero has me wrapped in his arms, his fingers winding and unwinding a lock of my hair while Alvaro lays with his head on my stomach, my nails scraping across his scalp and rolling his earlobe between my fingers.

He gives meansias.

He lifts up his head and looks up at me. “You don’t know how?”

I roll my eyes with a chuckle. “Why would I? It’s not like my dad ever would have allowed that and my mom would have had a heart attack.”

I feel Romero tense behind me, his fingers stilling in my hair, but before I can ask what the problem is, Alvaro laughs with a cocked brow. “Don’t act like my question isn’t legitimate.”

Romero huffs. “Yeah, little missfast and furious.”

I laugh. “Okay, you’re right. Still, I’d like to learn. If I’m going to be in your life, and I am, then I need to learn how to protect myself too.”

Alvaro pushes up to knees, his shirtless body capturing my attention as his muscles flex. “Then let’s go now.”

I scream when he takes my ankles in his hands and yanks me to the edge of the sofa bed before tossing me over his shoulder. Romero growls for him to watch it, but laughs when he ignores him and slaps my ass.

I flip him the bird from my ass out position. Once again my eyes get stuck, but on Romero’s body now. All muscles and tattoos. Pure perfection and all mine.

Both of them.

Just before Alvaro can step through the threshold to the backyard, I pinch his ribs, having a tough time getting any of his tight skin.
