“I do and you give up asking me anything else. Deal?”
I’ll find out who killed my father some other way. I have until I join him in the afterlife. If I’m lucky, that won’t be for a while yet. I care more about the woman sharing her pain through her tears. I care about Bailey and I just took on a new mission—sending whoever did this to her to meet the devil.
“Deal.”

VICTOR
The sun is up, but the snowstorm is on the verge of releasing its wrath on top of us. But the darkness rolling through the room casting shadows in the farthest corners has nothing to do with the winter storm and everything to do with the dark need to see someone die for what they’ve done to Bailey.
“Society 69.”
My blood boils the second I hear the name leave her lips. “How did you get tangled up with them?” I know who the nefarious sex trafficking group is. There’s nothing good about the secretive society. They’ve been working their way to Seattle one large city at a time. It won’t take long before they try to inject their venom here. And when they do, it will be all out war.
“I’m not telling you anything else. You wanted a name, and I gave it to you. Now it’s your turn to fulfill your end of the deal.”
I connect eyes with my brothers, and we exchange silent understandings. It’s time.
I slice at the ropes and Augustine gathers my shirt from the floor. Darius helps her sit up and I push her arms through my sleeves. She wraps it around her. Like all men, seeing her in my clothes makes me feel like I’ve claimed part of her. It’s barbaric, but fucking true.
I gather her in my arms and walk her to sit by the fire. “Wait here. Let us get you something to eat. Then we are going to talk and everything you know about the Society is on the table.”
She doesn’t say much as I walk to the kitchen and start pulling out dried food options. We didn’t have any intentions of coming here so we didn’t bother with stocking the place with fresh eggs or milk. The fridge isn’t even plugged up.
“We can’t stay here.”
Darius leans his weight against the counter and crosses his arms. “We can’t go anywhere in that storm either.”
Darius hooks a thumb toward the window over the kitchen sink.
“It passes and we are out of here. I need to move the truck into the garage and you need to get firewood.”
Augustine places his hands on Vi’s shoulders. “Take a fucking breath man. She’s okay. We’re okay.”
“I don’t think I’m okay.” I hold my hands up. My fingers tremble and it’s nothing to do with the cold lingering in this part of the cabin.
“You gotta calm down.”
“No shit, Augs. But how? Every time I touch her I want to see her round with our child. I want to fuck her until none of us are standing and through it all I want to spill blood for the crimes committed against her.” I pause. I can’t believe I’m going to say this. I’ve never wanted a woman so deeply. Not one so young. “She’s the one.”
I forget the bowl and head for the back room. I pull a duffel bag from the closet and it bounces on the bed. My brothers enter after me.
“What’s that?”
“What does it look like?” I pull out an anal plug, gel, men’s clothes and some new rope.
“It looks like you’ve planned for a kinky weekend up here and didn’t tell us about it. Something you want to share?”
I lower my weight on the bed and drop my elbow to my knees. “She’s the one. I mean it. I know we said our attention needs to be on business but I can feel her energy connecting with mine in a way I can’t untangle. How fucked up is that?”
One side of the large main room is half glass. The other is polished logs. Beyond the glass is nothing but white with more falling to join the several inches already gathered on the ground. Heavy tree branches sag and the soft call of wolves carry through the quiet.
“I want this with her. Quiet peace. I’m tired of the gunfights, the bloodshed and the killing. I won’t stop protecting our family and doing what you need of me. But I need the balance.Weneed her.”
“I want that too.”
