“Don’t you even think about it.” His voice was dangerously low against my lips. “That’s mine to please.” He held my wrists over my head with one hand, his other trailing down my body. “All fucking mine.”

My toes curled as he pumped a finger inside of me, then another, rubbing his thumb against my clit until I was a trembling mess around him. “I need you,” I panted, bucking my hips. “Please, Cian.” There was a desperation burning deep inside of me that only he could tame, and I begged him shamelessly for it. I arched my back, offering myself to him in every way I could.

“You’re fucking mine.” He rubbed his cock up and down my pussy, coating himself in my juices before filling me completely. My whole body was on edge within seconds, and I cried out in ecstasy as he teased me with deep, passionate strokes. Ripples of pleasure ran through my body, and I whimpered against his lips.

“Please,” I pleaded, and he released my hands. I dug my nails into his back as he fucked me harder. My head slammed against the headboard with each powerful stroke, but I didn’t care. My entire body was humming, and he quickened his pace. I moved with him as our pleasure grew, our bodies covered in sweat. He drove me closer and closer to my orgasm until I shattered around him, screaming out his name as a euphoric feeling spread throughout my entire body. He let out a guttural moan as he pounded into me like a man possessed. He weaved his fingers in my hair, tugging my head back so that he was looking into my eyes.

“Look at me, little star.” His piercing gaze seared me, as if peering into the depths of my soul. “I fucking love you so much.” I hung on for dear life as he thrust one last time, filling me up with his come.

I clung to him as my pulse raced, both of us trying to catch our breath. He collapsed next to me, dragged me into his arms and held me tight against his chest. I sighed and relaxed into him, never wanting this feeling to end.

Chapter Twelve

Nova

“Owen, can you make sure this goes out with FedEx today?” I handed him two boxes filled with our bestselling toys that Sophie had packed up. Every month we ran a giveaway on our social media platforms and the winners got a deluxe package of sex toys. It had been Sophie’s idea, and she had been right when she said it could be a good way to find new customers. All they had to do was post a picture on social media of what empowerment looked like for them, and we would pick the best ones. I wanted to pick them all, but I had to remember that I was running a business, not an orgasm charity.

Sophie’s gaze traveled over my neck, but she quickly looked away when she realized I was watching. It had been over a week since my attack—nine days, to be exact. The bruises on my neck were getting better, which meant they’d turned that obscene yellow color that made them stand out more. God, I was sick of wearing that silk scarf everywhere I went, but I couldn’t take the looks from strangers, the surprised gasps and pearl-clutching. I was counting down the days until they were completely healed.

But that wasn’t what was bothering me. It was the fact that Sophie looked upset and was having a hard time looking me in the eye. I had only been back in the office since yesterday, but had noticed her change in demeanor right away.

Well, time to fix it. Whateveritwas.

“Hey, Soph,” I called over to her and waved. “Lunch on me today, OK? The Italian place, Spazzianos?”

She bit her bottom lip and nodded, and I smiled to reassure her.

Twenty minutes later, we were cruising down Lake Shore Drive with Valik in the driver’s seat. The extra security guard Cian had put on us, Harvey, followed closely behind. Sophie was quiet for most of the ride as she fiddled with her phone. We pulled up to the restaurant, the smell of delicious food greeting us in the parking lot. There were several groups of people waiting for a table, and I gave my name to the hostess. Surprisingly, we scored a table after only waiting a few minutes. We took our seats and pulled out the menu; Valik stood off to the side of us and Harvey kept watch at the door. I had to admit, having Harvey around felt odd. I mean, I was used to Valik being my shadow, but he had turned into more of an older brother than a guard.

The server poured two glasses of wine, leaving the bottle on the table, and I raised my glass to Sophie’s. She nibbled on her bottom lip and clinked her glass against mine, taking a small sip. “Am I in trouble?” she asked softly.

I shook my head. “Absolutely not. I just wanted to talk to you privately.”

She sighed, looking everywhere but at me.

“Sophie.” I reached over and squeezed her hand. “What’s up? Are you afraid at work now? Is that what’s going on?”

Her eyes got big as saucers, and she shook her head back and forth. “No, not at all. I mean, Valik is like our shadow. And it’s nice having the other guys around, too.” She glanced at Harvey in the front. “I’m just… I think I’m worried and maybe sad. Like so sad that happened to you.” Her eyes were lowered, and I decided there was only one way to solve this.

I loosened the silk scarf from around my neck and tossed it into the empty chair next to me. “Look at me,” I said gently. Her eyes darted to my bruises, then back to her hands. “It’s OK, Sophie. Look at them. You don’t have to be afraid. I’m not.”

Her eyes traveled over my neck, her bottom lip quivering. “You’re not? Does it… hurt?”

“No, not really. It did for a few days, but it’s healing now. I know they look scary, right?”

She nodded and unclenched her hands.

“And don’t get me wrong, I was terrified. But it’s over, and it’s never going to happen again. We’re all working to keep everyone safe, and that means you, too.”

Her shoulders hunched forward, and she let out a deep breath. “OK. I’m sorry if I made it weird. I just didn’t know how to react. God, I was so scared that night, and my sister was freaking out, saying that I was going to get killed if I kept working for you…” Her voice trailed off, her face turning a shade of pink.

“Is that what you think? Because you can take time off, paid time.” I sipped my wine, not bothering to put the scarf back on. “I don’t want you to be afraid to come to work.”

“No, I’m not afraid. I told her she was stupid for saying that. Besides, you’re like the toughest woman I know. Such a badass.” Sophie grinned.

“Well, I wouldn’t say I’m a badass, but I definitely try to be.” I chuckled. The rock in the pit of my stomach dissipated as she relaxed. It felt good that she was opening up to me. And hell, I could understand her fear of the situation, but the last thing I wanted was for her to feel like she couldn’t be open with me.

“I’m sorry for acting like a weirdo. My parents were very protective growing up. They wouldn’t even let us watch the news.” She laughed. “I’m glad you’re not afraid. That means I won’t be afraid either. I don’t think I handled this the right way. Sometimes I can be awkward.”
