“That’s a good question, Christian. Are there any Sparrows who are worthy enough to take his place?”

I pause and think for a moment. “No, they can not be trusted.”

“What do we do when we can not trust our enemies?” Harvey prompts me.

“I guess it’s time to call in a favor, Harvey.”

“Who will you call, Christian?” He asks intrigued.

“Le Millieau. They still owe me a favor. If they send me a team, I can consider the French mafia’s debts to me repaid.”

“You would use your one favor for this?” Harvey’s voice is condescending.

“Do you have a better idea?”

“No.” Harvey drops his eyes.

“Then I will contact them with the intent to cash in on my favor, and settle for an agreement, giving them the foothold they need on this side of the pond. So long as they obey by my terms, the Sparrow, and their spoils will belong to Le Millieau. It will strengthen our international bonds, and solve our little problem of their dear leader going for a swim with the fishes.”

“You’re diabolical, Christian. I am impressed. Soon you will be ready to fully step into your destiny. You will make a good Don for Arkham. All you have to do now is prove yourself kid.” He dips his chin at me in a show of respect, then opens the door to step back inside the dining room.

I follow him in while his words replay in my head.

“Rise Sparrow, there’s been a change in plans,” I snarl, walking through the door.
