“Here’s the thing, Briella, we want you. We have for a long time.” The casual sound of my name on Grant’s tongue startles me so badly that I’m momentarily speechless. “But we know the school’s rules about dating students, so we won’t take it personally that while you’ve eye-fucked Jason from afar, you haven’t made any advances. Unfortunately for you, we’ve grown tired of waiting and biding our time. We’ve decided that you’re ours to play with, and we won’t let fucking rules get in the way of getting what’s ours.”

There’s so much audacity rolling off his tongue that I bark out a singular “HA!” because I can’t quite figure out any other response to something so ridiculous.

The third boy laughs softly, coldly, as Mr. Curls—no wait, his name isJason—places a hand on my shoulder.

“No one here is joking, Briella,” he murmurs. His words bring a chill to my veins, removing any warmth that his deep voice would have brought on in any other situation. “Trip, Grant, and I have found a toy we are all willing to play with. You’ll learn to love every second of it, I promise. We take care of our toys.”

“Cut it out!” I roll my shoulders to remove his hand.

It works and a little relief works its way into my chest. The third boy, Trip, kicks one of the books at his feet away from him as he reaches up and places his hands behind his head. Stealing a deep breath, I puff my chest out and lift my chin.

“I’m heading back downstairs to call security. You’re destroying school property. I can have you suspended. And you,” I glare at Grant. “I’m going straight to the dean to let him know what the hell you’ve just told me. I won’t tolerate being harassed like this.”

Trip shrugs. “If I went to school here, I might be more concerned with that threat.”

His comment takes me by surprise. Before I can threaten to call the cops, Grant intervenes. He pushes himself off the wall and straightens. “You won’t go to the dean, you’re not going to jeopardize your career like that.”

“What? I won’t be—”

“Do you think they’ll believe thatI,one of the star players on the team, would sexually harassyou? It’s practically common knowledge that there isn’t a cheerleader that wouldn’t go above and beyond for me, so why would I go afteryou?” Grant smirks. It’s alarmingly confident. “No one will believe you. In fact, I could argue thatyouwere hitting onme. That you lured me upstairsknowinghow empty it is up here. The fact that I don’t hang out in the library often will attest to the fact that I wouldn’t know about how secluded this part of it is. Only you would. And if that got out? Your reputation would be tarnished, and you’ll be the pariah here. Worst case scenario, you’ll get fired. You wouldn’t want that, would you?”

I suck in a sharp breath. He’s right, why would anyone believe me over the player making this school tons of money? He may not be a quarterback, but he’s still an important player, and this school sees their football players as heroes.

“If you could get a cheerleader, then why not date one of them? Leave me alone!”

“If I wanted a girl, I would.Wewould,” Grant states calmly. His eyes flicker to the two guys with us before returning his attention to me. “None of us wanted a girl. We wanted a woman. We wantyou.”

I open and close my mouth, unable to digest this information. Is this some weird nightmare that I can’t wake up from? Why couldn’t they have just left me alone to daydream about Jason in peace?

Trip hums thoughtfully before stepping closer to me. He has an edgier look than both Grant and Jason. There’s something about him that causes the air to thicken with danger. His gaze drops to slide over my body. I can almost feel his eyes caressing me. When his attention returns to my face, I’m trembling.

I’m not sure if it’s from fear, outrage, or something else entirely.

“This is going to be so much fun,” Trip declares. “I can’t wait to watch you crumble under the pressure.”

Shaking my head, I glare up at him. “You don’t know me.”

“We know you better than you think we do,” Jason disagrees softly. “Before you go and make any rash decisions, think about the fun you can have with the three of us.”

“I’m not playing whatever fuckery this is!” I seethe, glaring at all of them.

“Trust me, you’ll want to do this the easy way,” Grant promises darkly. “Because if you don’t give in quietly and accept your current position, we’ll make your life a living hell, Briella.”

I snort. As if he has anything that could possibly ruin my life. I’ve been through hell and back. There is nothing that this spoiled brat can do or say that could even come close to what I’ve already been through.

“You doubt me?” Grant cracks a half smile. Being in his presence again reminds me about how uneasy he makes me. There is just something so cold about him… And it makes him all the more attractive.

“I’m not afraid of you or your stupid little threat,” I assure him confidently. I turn around to face Jason and move to step around him. He sidesteps, blocking me. I glare at him. “Move. Now.”

“Or what?” he asks, his tone and expression seeming genuinely curious.

“I’ll scream.” I’m not above making a scene.

“Fine. Then we’ll show your co-workers and any security that come running evidence that you blackmailed Jackie into leaving,” Grant declares.

All the air leaves my lungs in a woosh. The stiffness in my shoulders instantly vanishes as surprise and horror crash through my nervous system. The world seems to tilt on its side as I turn to stare at Grant, who’s watching me intently. I open my mouth to deny it, but the guilt already riding me about the whole thing causes my throat to choke up.

Trip snorts, “That shut her up nice and quick.”
