“You can eat my face anytime you like, Tesoro. But I’ll return the favour between your thighs.”

I gulp, lost for words, but turned on by the image.

“You know I like to watch, Candy. But I have another interest.” His eyes drop to the necklace I’m wearing. It’s the one he got me. I put it on earlier and although I love it, I didn’t want to risk wearing it at work and losing it, but I can’t get it off. My hand goes to my throat to play with it, and he smirks. “I like claiming things. Marking them as mine for all the world to see.”

“With necklaces that don’t come off?” I whisper. It makes sense now. There must be some sort of hidden lock in the golden ball pendant.

His grin widens. He looks so predatory right now, it should terrify me but it doesn’t. I’m excited. Thrilled by his words. Eager to play whatever game he has in mind.

He steps closer, pressing his body against mine as he takes the necklace in his hand and examines it. “It’s beautiful,” he murmurs, his fingers tracing the delicate chain. “But it’s not enough.”

I’m breathless as he leans in and presses his lips to mine, his tongue exploring my mouth with a hunger that leaves me dizzy. His fingers trail down my neck, his touch hot against my skin as he moves to the pendant and grips it tight. I can feel the pressure as he pulls, the metal digging into my flesh.

“Does it hurt?” he asks, his voice low and gravelly.

“A little,” I admit, feeling a rush of excitement at the sensation.

“Good,” he growls, and suddenly he yanks the pendant hard, causing me to gasp in pain. It doesn’t break. It seems so delicate, but clearly, it’s deceptively strong. Pleasure builds in my core. He tugs again and again, each pull harder than the last until I can barely stand it. My hands grip his shoulders as I moan, my body aching with need.

“Who do you belong to, Candy?” he demands, his eyes blazing with desire.

“You,” I whisper, my voice barely audible.

“Louder,” he demands again.

“You!” I cry out, and he releases the pendant, letting it fall back against my skin with a soft clink. “I’m yours,” I add, feeling a sense of liberation at finally admitting it out loud.

“That’s right,” he says, his voice softening as he kisses me again, this time more tenderly. “And I’m yours.”

He takes my hand again and leads me out of the fire escape, into the snowy car park. It’s cold, but I barely feel it as he presses me against the brick wall, his body hot against mine. His hands roam over my body, exploring every inch as we kiss, our passion growing with each passing moment.

I’m aching for him, desperate for release, when suddenly I hear a noise. It’s just faint, but it breaks the spell.

“What was that?” I ask, pulling away.

“Nothing.” He shrugs.

“I’m sure I heard something.”

“I’m sure it’s nothing, Tesoro. Maybe a stray.”

“Maybe,” I say, though I’m still not convinced.

But then I’m distracted as he pulls me close once more and kisses me again. When we break apart, I’m wobbly on my feet and he’s grinning like he can’t wait to catch me.

“You think you can stay ahead of me?” he asks in a low, dangerous tone that sets my heart racing.

“Try and stop me,” I challenge.

“Good.” He kisses me again, hard and deep, until I forget where I am and what I’m meant to be doing. He breaks our kiss and slides a hand inside the black jacket he gave me. When he pulls back a moment later there’s a small brooch pinned to my chest.

“A candy cane?”

“It’s got a camera inside.”

“Umm, why?”

“Because we’re going into the woods.”
