Mollie hurried over to Sul, who enveloped her in a bear hug, much like Kirel held Hazel. Raxnor’s hand on my lower back steered me toward the door, but I took one last look over my shoulder at Tark. He busied himself with the zurilium foil, humming happily, seemingly oblivious that he was the only person without a partner.

As if he read my mind, Raxnor said, “My friend deserves to find his fated mate, to be as happy as I am.”

I spun around as if about to head back across the shuttle bay. “Should I ask him to have dinner with us? I wouldn’t want him to be all alone.”

“Frek no,” Raxnor growled, an arm looping around my waist to pull me back against him as he hurried us into the hall. “I’m a good friend, but I’m no saint. We’ll see the others tomorrow. You’re mine for the next twelve hours.”

Dios mío! “Twelve hours?” My voice hit a high note.

He nipped at my ear with his fangs, and I burst out in goose bumps. “Twelve hours at a minimum. I’m going to knot you and bond you and make you mine, my soul’s breath.”

Desire shivered through me, and I could only nod.

The elevator couldn’t move fast enough, and we hurried down the light-blue hallway of crew quarters. Raxnor stopped before we got to my door and tapped at a control panel.

The door slid open on a room the same size as the one I’d been given. It had the same built-in closet, attached bathroom, and light-blue walls. There were small differences. He’d mounted a weapons rack on the wall near the door. A couple of alien landscape photos hung on one wall, one of them showing the mountains we’d visited on Tularia, complete with a dragon outlined against the bright sky.

“We’ll hang the photo of the glen you had me take here,” he said, pointing to a bare spot beside it.

“I’d like that.”

“This is our room now,” he waved, and I spun toward the bed covered with dark-blue sheets the rich color of Raxnor’s hands. Hands I wanted on me.Now.

Suddenly, I knew why the other males had made the two of us shower on the shuttle when no one else had. They’d known it would make things easier for us now.

Then Raxnor tangled his fist in the hair at the back of my neck and pulled me to him. Thoughts of anyone else fled under a wave of heat as my thighs clenched.

“My mate, my fated one. Are you ready to hear my mating vow?”

“Yes.” All the yes!

Raxnor’s expression grew serious. “Will you mate me, my most special Zo-Fee? Will you join your soul to mine until we are one?”

I gasped and pressed a hand to quivering lips as tears pricked my eyes. It was so lovely! I didn’t know exactly what to say, so I spoke from my heart. “I will mate you, Raxnor, and join our souls.”

He smiled and stole my breath all over again with its beauty. “You will be mine, and I will be yours.”

“I will be yours, and you will be mine.”

He gave me a solemn nod and brushed his fingers over my forehead. “You are the only one I will ever truly join with, body, heart, and soul.”

“You have my heart, body, and soul.” I touched his forehead, and his eyes shut, his nostrils flaring.

His reaction made my tummy flutter with anticipation. I couldn’t help myself—I stroked over his temples, circling the base of first one horn, then the next.

His entire body vibrated with barely restrained tension. He growled and pulled my hand to his lips, kissing the ends of my fingers. “If you keep doing that, my sweet mate, I will be unable to complete the vows.”

I nodded. “Complete them. I can’t wait any longer to be yours.”

Raxnor groaned and leaned over to take my mouth in a hot kiss that had me straining upward for more. “You are temptation itself.”

I clung to his shoulders to stay upright.

He cupped my cheek, tilting my head until he stared deeply into my eyes, his filled with all the love in the universe. “You are mine, and I am yours. Forever.”

I repeated it, loving him more than I ever imagined possible, “You are mine, and I am yours. Forever.”

Raxnor groaned, and his tail darted around his side, buzzing loudly. “I can’t hold it back any longer.”
