Was this true? Had Wrin risked his freedom for me, a complete stranger?
Or was this a story crafted to get me to let my guard down? He’d paused when he said it, as if needing to choose a good lie.

My lack of knowledge ate at me. There were simply too many unknowns in this new world, but one thing had become clear.
