I stand aside so the four women can move into the room, and then I look at the men who I’ve freed.

“I have no idea how this is going to go, but you’re going to have to restrain these men and somehow move them toward the exit. You know better than I do how they’re feeling right now. Use your brains and your muscles, and get them out of here.”

They snap into action.

I stop and try to catch my breath, looking at the one man I’ve been avoiding since we’ve been in here.

Niccolò is pulled from the table, and two men hold either side of him as women rush past. His eyes are glassy, and he struggles against the men who are trying to guide him toward the door.

“Move!” I yell as the last of the shackled women are freed.

I turn back toward the group of women still standing in the hallway with me, and I run to the front of them to lead the pack once more.

The code. What is the fucking code?

All of this is for nothing if we burn alive with our captors.

Where is Jeffrey?

I need the fucking code!

I move as fast as I can while the men struggle behind me, and we have to go past Gabriel’s office to get to the door on this floor. The only door I’ve noticed people leaving their shifts out of.

My only hope is that he’s gone, that he’s already fled.

He’s good at that.

We approach the door, and I slow down. Once we get a bit closer to the office, I realize the blinds are open. Shit.

Please don’t be in there, please don’t be in there, please don’t be in there.

When I get to the door, I peer inside, using my palm to signal behind me for everyone to stop for a moment. When my eyes connect with his, his stare darkens, and he abruptly stands.

There’s a man in the office with him, and it’s then that I remember the office is soundproof. Someone mentioned it a few days ago. The guard, maybe? It doesn’t matter now.

Now, I know that Gabriel has no idea what’s going on. Surely the guards running to the third floor made a commotion, but they were using the staircase that’s on the opposite end of the floor, and this room is soundproof. Gabriel has no idea what’s going on.

Before I can formulate a plan, Gabriel crosses the office and yanks open the door.

His eyes narrow, and he grabs ahold of me and tugs me into the office, slamming the door shut behind him and flipping the lock. Once he’s drawn the blinds, he shoves me down into the vacant chair next to the man I’ve never seen before.

I immediately stand back up.

“As you can see, this one is a defiant one,” Gabriel says with a laugh. “Seems like a great time to introduce you to your baby’s father.”

Nah, I think I’d rather not.

First, I run toward Gabriel and shove my knife into his gut.

Then, I grab the gun from the holster at his side as he falls to the floor, cursing my name. After I turn toward the vile prick in the chair to make sure he doesn’t move, I put a hole in Gabriel’s chest.

“That’s for thinking you’d ever sell my fucking baby!” I scream at him, his blood running down my face.

I don’t have time to give him the death he deserves, but I spot another gun on the cabinet behind him and grab that, too.

I shoot him again, this time in the cock. “And that’s for all the women you’ve fucked over.”

Then I shoot him one more time, just for good measure, this time in the chest again. Shooting him in the head would be too quick for this piece of shit.
