“But then again, how would I know what she would like without first testing it out on you, bitch.”

My plan failed, and there was only one thing left to do.

I let out an ear-splitting shriek and tried to pull away with all my might from his tight grip on my upper arms.

He snarled at me and grasped my upper thigh with one hand, digging his nails deep into my flesh, breaking through skin. I screamed in pain, but I wasn’t about to give up.

I slammed my forehead into his nose, the only self-defense move I knew how to do. He stumbled back, howling and clutching his broken nose, which was bleeding like a fountain.

I let out a manic cackle at the sight of him in pain. I clapped my hands over my mouth, but I couldn’t stop snorting with laughter.

Shit, I was so dead.

“I’m gonna kill you now, you bitch,” he choked out.

His eyes narrowed into slits, and he lunged towards me, intent on probably strangling me to death.

Before he could touch me, he was comically pulled back in the air like from an invisible rope. He let out a strangled shout, and I gasped at who was behind him.

Roman, the arrogant host alpha from earlier, was there. He grabbed Wesley by the collar and threw him to the far wall. He snarled and pounced on Wesley, beating him to a pulp right before my eyes. He was intent on killing him, it seemed like. But I couldn’t have his death on my conscience.

“Wait, wait,” I screamed out. “Don’t kill him, it’s not worth it!”

I didn’t want any of his bad karma tainting me for the rest of my life.

Roman paused and looked at me with dark, glinting eyes, crouching over Wesley’s still form.

“The bastard will die for touching an omega under my protection,” he bit out, barely restraining his wolf from emerging.

My heart jumped in my throat at the raw energy he was emanating. The powerful strength of an alpha on the edge of his humanity.

I lowered my voice and purred deep from my throat, letting my soft, omega energy calm him.

“He does deserve to die. You’re right,” I hummed out, taking a slow step towards him. “But I don’t want to have his death hanging over my head, not a lowlife like him.”

I reached out a shaky hand and gently stroked his perfect hair, like calming a wild horse. Slowly, his eyes returned to their normal state, and his breathing slowed. He dropped Wesley’s motionless body to the ground with a thud.

Suddenly, he stood up, and I backed away quickly.

My job here was done, and I was ready to escape to the comfort of my room.

I must’ve triggered his predatory instinct because before I could turn away, he began stalking towards me.

Oh, hell no. Did I just trade in one horny alpha for another?

He looked at me curiously.

“Gabriella again, is it?” He mused, looking at me with interest.

“Yes,” I replied hesitantly. My eyes darted around, trying to find an escape route.

“No one’s ever been able to get through to me in that state before,” he remarked. “Thank you for pulling me back from doing something I might regret.”

Now that sparked my interest.

“You would regret killing him?” I shot out, surprisingly offended. Just because I didn’t want Wesley to die didn’t mean that he shouldn’t.

Oh god, that didn’t even make sense in my head.
