I felt suddenly shy and shrunk into the side of Roman. Alphas rarely liked me at first sight, and I couldn’t handle any more rejection tonight.

But those two alphas didn’t allow me to hide away with their boisterous energy.

The tall one, dressed in an impeccable suit, drew me forward, clasping my hand in his and kissing the back of it in a formal manner.

I blushed at his gallant action.

“Chase, my dear. A great pleasure to meet you, indeed,” he said warmly in an English accent, a genuine smile of happiness on his face.

“Gabriella,” I stuttered out, not used to such positive attention.

The big, burly one came up next and drew me into an intimate embrace.

“Stone,” he rumbled above my head.

“Umm, nice to meet you, Stone,” I squeaked against his massive chest.

I heard Roman arguing with Stone from behind me.

“Put her down, Stone. We aren’t mating with her. I made that perfectly clear. She is only staying for a while.”

His words, while true, still sent shards of pain through me. Imagine what it would be like getting chosen to be a pack’s mate and greeted so warmly at their door. I closed my eyes and savored being held for a little while before Stone reluctantly let go of me.

I liked him already.

I giggled as he let me go, and our eyes met. He gazed at me with a deep, burning fire that made my stomach feel funny.

Chase quickly jumped in before Roman could argue with Stone some more.

“I’ve prepared a small dinner for our guest. If you would please follow me this way, Gabriella.”

“Good idea,” Roman grumbled darkly, his eyes shooting daggers at Stone.

We walked through the elaborate entryway and into a formal dining room. The massive table in the center was loaded with food. I turned and gaped at Chase.

“I can’t possibly eat all that,” I exclaimed.

“Rest assured, an omega will never go hungry in our home, even if she is not ours to mate,” he replied wistfully, staring at my blonde curls.

I blushed and dropped the topic.

I made my way over to the nearest chair and tried sitting down, but I winced in pain. The gash in my inner thigh from Wesley must’ve reopened as I tried to sit. I gasped in pain as I felt blood starting to drip out from it.

Immediately, Chase was by my side, swooping me off of my feet.

“Are you wounded?” He asked me sharply.

Before I could answer, he was already turning towards Roman, whose face had gone white.

“The omega was wounded, and you didn’t treat her?” Chase yelled at him.

“I had no idea the fucker wounded her. I thought she was only shaken up,” he replied, agonized.

“Hurry up, take her upstairs. Stone, grab the medical kit!” Roman immediately jumped into action, barking out orders.

“I’m fine, guys. It’s just a little scratch,” I tried to intervene. But there was no use getting through to alphas once they put their mind to something.

“Hush, my dear. Let us take care of you now. Everything will be okay,” Chase soothed me.
