"Robin told me at our pajama party last night. Apparently, Holly, Grace, Sofia, and I are best friends now." She shrugged nonchalantly, a playful smile gracing her lips.

"Best friends, huh? I'm not sure if I should be glad you want to be friends with my older sister or scared," he teased, chuckling.

"Definitely scared."

"Fair enough," Tommy conceded. "As for the ride-along, I guess I changed my mind because... Well, I thought you'd be a distraction."

"Really?" Grace asked, feigning offense. "So, I wouldn't be a distraction anymore?"

Tommy shook his head with a grin. "No, you're definitely a distraction, whether you're actually in the car with me or not."

"Uh-oh," Grace replied playfully. "That doesn't sound very safe."

"Don't worry, Grace. Nothing bad will happen to you on my watch. I promise."

Grace bit her lip, pondering how that wasn't exactly what she meant. Sure, she'd said it lightly... but was it very safe of him to seem to care about her this much after such a short time?

Then, as she looked into Tommy's eyes, filled with genuine care and affection, she nearly shrugged outwardly as she pushed away the thoughts. Him caring about her didn't mean he'd go back on his promise to keep things casual. She cared about the girls from the pajama party, didn't she? Tommy's concern for her didn't have to be any scarier than that.

"Okay, Tommy. I'll join you for a ride-along."

In the quaint boutique, the air hummed with the subtle excitement of upcoming festivities. Grace, Sara, Robin, and Holly sifted through racks of dresses, each with their own style in mind.

“Okay, this one,” Grace declared, holding up a navy blue gown. “Tommy mentioned once that he likes me in this color.” She eyed the dress, a small smile tugging at her lips.

Sara, flipping through a rack of black dresses, shot her a knowing look. “So, dressing to impress a certain brother of mine, are we?”

Grace shrugged nonchalantly. “Your only brother, right?”

“Right,” she allowed. “But wait til you meet our sisters. There’s two more where I came from, and they are a trip and a half.”

“Which one is the half?” Grace teased, making Sara laugh as she turned back to the dresses.

Robin, hands on her baby bump, pointed to an emerald green maternity gown on a nearby rack. “I think Jack will love that one,” she mused, her face lighting up at the thought. “Dressing to impress a certain someone is definitely a good idea.”

Holly, who was eyeing a bold red dress, chimed in, “Well, in that case, I guess I’m wearing red again. Nick loves me in red.”

Grace glanced at Sara, then back at Holly. “Okay, but do you wanna wear red? Because I think we’re mostly joking about only picking a dress for that reason. Right, Robin?”

“Definitely,” she said with a laugh. “I feel like a house right now. I don’t care what Jack thinks at this point, as long as I’m comfy.”

Holly grinned, throwing in a good-natured eye-roll. “Yes. Promise. It looks good with my hair. See?”

She held up the dress, and the rest of them all nodded in approval, oohingandahhingenough to make her laugh.

Sara slid a sleek black dress off the rack and held it up. “And this one looks good with mysoul.”

The women burst out laughing along with her, but then Holly frowned. “Wait, who’s your date?”

Sara’s expression faltered for a moment before she masked it with a smile. “Um, hopefully Ethan. If he asks me.”

“You’re buying a dress without being asked yet?” Robin asked, holding up her hand for a high-five. “Get it girl. I’m impressed.”

Sara slapped Robin’s hand. “Just being prepared.”

Grace’s brow furrowed in thought. “Doesn’t it seem a bit odd to you that he hasn’t asked you yet? You guys are dating, right?”
