Being a competitive bunch, accusations of cheating were thrown out, and quickly vetoed by me and Aubrey. To which our defense was countered with, “Of course, you’d deny it.”
That was from my dad.
The attempt of a wink from Darcy which had Aubrey begging her to never do that again in her presence.
This was all done affectionately, none of it being said seriously.
Except for Aubrey not wanting to see the awful thing Darcy calls a wink.
Nobody wants to see that.
I’ve been tugging aside my family one at a time, telling them of my idea for a joint present for Aubrey. Each has agreed to chip in, wanting to give her this. A new memory to soothe a sad one.
Even if they said no, I’d still do it for her.
Already have, actually.
With two day shipping, it should be here before Christmas.
Pulling that off was a snap. Wrapping it so it’s not a mess will be the real miracle.
I could always ask Mom to do it for me, she’s fantastic at that kind of stuff, but I want to do it. I’ll gladly share the credit for the gift itself, but the presentation will all be mine.

Aubrey has mentioned work, though it seems to be one she does outside of the military.
