Once we got back to Hugo’s cabin in Green Mountain Village, much closer than bringing Hannah all the way back to Sunset Springs, both wolves shifted back to human.
“Thank you, Lars, for everything. You changed my life.” Hannah went up on her tiptoes and brushed her lips against mine.
I slid my tongue against the seam and invited myself inside her one more time.
Hugo was waiting to bring her back to the chalet. I hated how much that felt like goodbye. When the pickup truck pulled out of the driveway, my body ached like something had been ripped away from me.
This couldn’t be the last time I ever saw her.
No, it was my job to protect her. To make sure she found the shifter that would claim her as their forever mate. To watch over them as their lust blossomed into something more.
Mine.
“Well, that was an interesting turn of events.” Bibi was back in her full regalia, this time with red hair and a matching leopard print jacket, hat, and boots. “The worst-case scenarios kept playing out in my head—all the news we got about Hannah’s potential whereabouts was downright terrifying. We never expected to find her with you. Thank the moon you’re the one who found her, or—”
“I want to go on stage.” My words were still a growl. “I can’t let anyone else to put a paw on her.”
Bibi clapped her red-gloved hands together. “Oh, that would be wonderful. I can’t lie, Hannah’s not the only one who’s thought about you all by yourself in that mountain. I hoped I’d have the chance to find a mate for you. But, if you come onThe Mating Game,you’ll be in the public eye.”
The thought of it raised my hackles. “I know.”
She raised a brow. “The paparazzi are relentless, Lars. They’ll have questions about what you are. You’ve led such a private life. It might be more than you’re comfortable with.”
“I’m ready.”
I’d do whatever it took to make Hannah mine.

But when word gets out that a creature thought to be mythical has been sighted in Sunset Springs, ancient secrets are exposed, long-forgotten creatures come back to settle a score, and being in the spotlight becomes more exciting and dangerous than I ever imagined.
