She cupped his face and kissed him. His arms came around her and pulled her tightly against his chest as if he’d never let her go. She grinned. “I know. I saw it in the sculpture.” She kissed him. “You’ve proven it more than once today. Now it’s my turn. I’ve been in love with you since Christmas Eve.”

He kissed her deeply.

She shivered.

“You’re cold. Come over by the fire.” He turned her around.

There, next to Brandon’s recliner, sat a floral overstuffed armchair like the one she had described. Her chest hurt with emotion as she blinked to see through the moisture blurring her sight. “Oh, Brandon.” She threw her arms around his neck. “You fill my heart.”

“I hoped it might encourage you to share the cabin with me. And now with you planning on opening your own agency, you could do that here in Cherry Creek. What do you think?

“I can’t think of anything more wonderful. The first thing I’m going to do while sitting in that comfy chair is share our love story in the little green book before I return it.”

He kissed her deeply. “Before you do that, I have other ideas about how I want you to spend your time.”

“How’s that?” she asked in her most innocent voice.

He nibbled at her neck “I intend to show you how much I love you.”

“Sounds perfect because I love you too.”

Once Upon a Christmas Secret

TERRA WEISS

ChapterOne

His name is Asher.Right? Or is it Ashton? Oh, no! I’m completely blanking—clearly, I’m nervous. Anyway, it doesn’t matter because this date is over. I mean, zero chemistry. Zip.

I cock my head, studying him. In fairness, he does look like his profile picture. Brown wavy hair. Nerd glasses, but in an ironic way. Tall. A lawyer, like me. I mean, that’s not nothing. I should really give him a chance.

Asher-Ashton takes a hefty swig of his extra hot eggnog latte loaded with nutmeg and whipped cream before letting out a long, “Mmmm.” Then a big, “Ahhh.”

I shift in my chair. Why did I decide to meet another Binder match? Why?

As Mariah Carey’sAll I Want for Christmasplays in the background of Queen Bean, my go-to coffee shop below my apartment in Atlanta, I knowexactlywhy.

The holidays. I didn’t want to spend them alone, especially this year.

Asher-Ashton sets his cup down, and there’s whipped cream on his nose when he says, “Look, I want to fast-track this thing, Dakota.”

“Dawson,” I correct, blinking. I’m offended that he’s forgotten my name, and the irony is not lost on me.
