“You having fun, Dad?” Theo asks.

“I am, it’s a great party, son. Thanks for organizing it for me.”

“It’s not every day you reach half a century,” he says with a teasing glint in his eyes. And damn, do I love to see him like this. He’s been opening more and more to happiness, to fun, and yeah, it all started with him finding the love of his life and finally being with him for this whole year, but since the truth came out it’s been exponential.

“Shut up, brat. You’re turning thirty next year.”

“I know and I’m very excited about it. I think my thirties are going to be awesome.”

“The rest of our lives will be, Teddy,” Mike says as he slides up behind him and covers him in his huge arms. Their engagement rings glow right next to each other and I take a deep breath to starve off tears of happiness.

“Speaking of, any ideas for the wedding?” Tris asks them.

“All we know is it’ll be this off-season. Even if booking a place will be hard as hell no matter where we want to do it.”

“You don’t have to worry about that,” I say with absolute certainty. If my son wants his wedding on the top of the fucking Empire State Building, then I’ll make it happen. “You just have to agree on a place you both love and that’s where the wedding will be. You will have the perfect wedding no matter what I have to do to give it to you.”

“Thanks, Dad.” He squeezes Mike’s hands. “We do agree it won’t be this huge affair, I mean Mike does want to invite the whole team, but otherwise only close friends and family.”

“You just let me know.” I nod at him and turn to look at Tristan next to me, holding my hand, looking at my son and his fiancé with affection in his eyes.

“You know, if you happen to have a specific request for someone to sing at the wedding, maybe your first dance? I can make it happen, too.” Tris tells them and seriously, this man is so damn perfect. So kind.

“Really?” Mike asks excitedly. “Oh, I know who I want, though I don’t know if you represent him, Edward Trent? He has this song, ‘When I Don’t’ which I think would fit perfectly. What do you think, Teddy?” he asks Theo, calling him by the same nickname he used in his head for nine years. Mike’s definitely a romantic and I couldn’t be happier to have him as part of our family.

“It fits perfectly actually.” The gaze my son aims at his fiancé could be poured on a pancake.

“I do represent Ed, and his wife Sam, so I can make it happen easily. Maybe they’d even do a duet for you guys. And since they don’t tour anymore, you just have to tell me the date.” He turns to look at me. “And write a pretty check.” He grins at me teasingly.

I smile, besotted, “Like I said, whatever they want, they get.”

Mike clears his throat. “Actually, Harry. I want to talk to you about that.” He shifts on his feet nervously. “I want to pay for… something. I know it’s important to you, but I don’t know,” he shrugs, “it’s my wedding, too, you know?”

“Well, you can pay for whatever you want, but just one thing. If you want to go all out, then you can pay for the drinks.” I chuckle because with the whole team there it’s bound to be a hefty bill.

“You should pay for the food, Mike. I know how important that is to both of you,” Tris tells them with a soft smile—gorgeous as ever.

Yeah, I’m gonna marry the hell out of this man. The sooner the better. Maybe this weekend? We could fly to Vegas and have it done in hours.

“Oh no,” I hear Iris say and see her walk up to us. “Don’t even think about it, Dad.”

“What?” I ask her.

“I see that glint in your eyes. You’re not marrying Tristan tomorrow.” The little devil doesn’t even care about Tristan’s shocked gasp. She just keeps talking. “When you do get married, you’re gonna do it when I can be present as your best woman and Theo as your best man. And you’ll give me plenty of notice like they have.” she points her thumb at Mike and Theo. “So I can have enough time to prepare, got it?”

I can only smile at her, and yeah, there’s that reckless thrill buzzing through my veins again. “Sure, sweetheart.”

The End.
