Another voice rings out, “Everleigh? What is it?” This one is Kylian. “What’s wrong?”

I don’t stop.

Shoving myself to my feet, I gallop up the stairs, slick sliding down my inner thighs.

There’s only one reason I’d be begging for an alpha’s knot like that. Only one. My heat isn’t just on its way. It’s here.

I can’t be in this house. I can’t be here with three alphas. Escape out the front door isn’t an option, so it leaves the back. It leaves escape through omega territory where the three alphas of this house have sworn never to enter.

Chapter26

Kylian

Something is really fucking wrong with Everleigh.

Rune is a couple of steps behind me as I tear after her, her lush, sweet scent nearly overpowering.

Cian was supposed to silence her fear of alphas by getting dance lessons he doesn’t need, not send her into a panic. What the fuck did he say?

“Ky?” Rune shouts after me.

I don’t slow as I charge after Everleigh. “Give me a second with her. If we all go, we could scare her more.”

I’m at the top of the stairs when she disappears into her room. As I follow her down the hallway, I tell myself I won’t enter. I’ll ask her what’s wrong from the doorway and come up with some way to stop the tears I saw tracking down her face. A way that doesn’t involve following her into her room.

Until I see her at her window, one leg thrown out. Her room is on the first floor, just above the office, and overlooking the pool. Stone surrounds the pool. She might be okay if she lands in the water. If she lands somewhere other than the water?

I picture her body on the stone patio, blood circling her head. Maybe not even breathing.

After that, I stop thinking.

I have her in my arms, throwing us both back onto her bed, breaking a promise I told myself I never would. I invaded omega territory. I invaded Everleigh’s sanctuary. The one place she was supposed to feel safe from alphas.

Everleigh is sobbing in my arms. “You said you would stay out.”

And her scent… her vanilla-coconut scent is making it so I can’t think. I’m shaking. I can barely breathe with the need to rub myself on her, to push her thighs apart and drive myself into her.

But Everleigh is sobbing. She’shurting.

Who fucking cares that my dick is harder than it’s ever been before? That I’m trembling with the need to claim Everleigh. She’s hurting, and I need to make her stop.

I crush her face into my chest, holding her despite her attempt to push me away. “I couldn’t let you fall, baby. I couldn’t let you die.”

She’s fighting me, trying to shove me away. Knowing she will go for the window again, I refuse to let her.

“You promised,” she sobs. “You said you’d stay out.”

Her scent is so lush, so potently sweet, it calls to every single part of me. I’m shaking, struggling to hold back the need to pin her beneath me and slide deep. Knot her.

But Everleigh is weeping into my shirt. She doesn’t need my knot. Doesn’t need an alpha.

And then I feel her hands on me, running over my chest, sweeping down. Her fingers brush over my cock, her small hand squeezing. I bite off a groan.

“I need it,” she moans. “Please. Knot me. Please.”

I shake my head. “No.”

It goes against the need vibrating in my veins. Goes against the alpha in me who wants to claim his mate. But I grip her wrists gently and gather her into my arms, holding her close. “You don’t.”
