It must be the middle of the night for the hallway to be this dark. Yet, instead of sleeping in his bed, Kylian is lounged on the floor outside my room.

Are Rune and Cian still up? I’m tempted to go downstairs and thank them for the suppressants. With the echo of my begging still filling my ears, shame holds me immobile. So I stare down at the man who wouldn’t listen to my begging and gave me what I needed instead.

Sleeping like that can’t be comfortable. After trying—and failing—to sleep on a closet floor, I know just how uncomfortable it can be.

Time to do something about that.

I return to my nest and pull out the thickest, softest blanket I can find. Then I cover Kylian with the blanket, hesitating for a beat before I settle down on the floor beside him.

After studying his profile, I lean in close and kiss him softly on his stubbled jaw. “Thank you.”

And I do something I hadn’t believed I would ever want to do. I slide my arm around him, rest my head on his chest, and close my eyes. Not wanting my nest, a place that makes me feel warm, safe, and protected, but to stay with Kylian instead.

I’m falling asleep when I feel a blanket settle over me. Kylian draws me against him, presses his lips to my forehead, and releases a quiet sigh of contentment.

* * *

When I swim back to consciousness, the first thing I notice is I’m not sitting in a carpeted hallway. The second, I’m perched on a man’s lap.Kylian’slap. He’s awake. I know because not only is his erection prodding my thigh, but he’s slowly combing his fingers through my hair.

Blinking my eyes open, I lift my head from his shoulder, and his fingers stop.

He studies me with a softness I’ve never seen in his eyes before. It’s intimate, it’s warm, and it makes me feel the same way my nest does.

“You brought me a blanket,” he says, his voice still husky from sleep.

“You didn’t look comfortable, and I didn’t want to wake you,” I admit.

He regards me steadily. “But you stayed.”

“I did.”

“Was there something wrong with your nest that you would want to sleep on a hallway carpet instead?”

I recall his false innocence when I asked him about my nest before. “What do you know about my nest? Did you have something to do with that?”

As if I don’t already know that he did.

There’s no way Nancy would stuff my closet full of blankets, throws, and cushions without permission—or direction—from the alphas.

Kylian blinks, suddenly all innocence. “A nest? You have a nest?”

His tone is flippant, and a smile lurks in his eyes.

I don’t return his smile. I lean toward him and kiss him softly on the lips.

Although his hand briefly tightens in my hair, he doesn’t hold on to me or even extend the kiss. I’d thought he might. He lets me go. He does it reluctantly, but he lets me go.

When I pull back, all trace of amusement has faded from his gaze.

“I wouldn’t hate all alphas if I’d met you first,” I say. “Thank you for taking care of me.”

And I mean it.

I never believed I would wish a thing like this, but I wish Kylian, Cian, and Rune had been the alphas I’d perfumed for.NotLawrence.

I wish they were mine, and that I wasn’t Lawrence’s omega.

A new intensity fills his gaze a second before he captures my lips in a sweet, lingering kiss that almost tempts me to extend it. “So stay and be our omega.”
