Bianca smiled, resting her hand on my knee. She squeezed it as she laughed. “So over the top.”

“I don’t think so.”

“You never do, not even when you’re stalking me in my bedroom or following my every movement as you prowl from the shadows.”

A shrug lifted my shoulders. “That’s not a burden but a pleasure.”

Her head lowered to rest on my shoulder. “You always know exactly what to say.”

The trip to Tonopah would take over six hours. Bianca fell asleep an hour into the drive. Only when she breathed deeply and wouldn’t hear us did I finally speak to the prospect behind the wheel.

“You’re sure weren’t not being followed?”

Zane shook his head. “No. I’ve been watching.”

I didn’t like that. Was there another tracker in her purse? Or somewhere else? Rubio had placed one in her handbag last time and tracked us to the hotel. I didn’t want a repeat of that encounter or caught by surprise a second time.

The feeling that Alaric still remained in control unsettled me. I couldn’t do much about it while we traveled, but once I reached the Royal Bastards clubhouse, I’d figure this out.

Bianca woke a few minutes before we arrived. Her eyes fluttered as she yawned, slowly sitting upright as she smoothed her hands over her dress.

“Still as beautiful as always,” I murmured, dropping a kiss on her bare shoulder. “We’re nearly there.”

“Where, exactly?”

I forgot to tell her. “The Royal Bastards MC clubhouse. They named it The Crossroads.”

She blinked. “That sounds ominous.”

“You have no idea.” I thought of the men who dispensed justice with a scythe and took on the form of the Reaper. “You’re safe here. I wouldn’t bring you otherwise.”

“I know, Benny.” Her endless trust in me was one of the many reasons I loved her.

Zane parked the SUV after we entered the lot, only pausing at the gate for a few brief seconds before we passed through. I opened the door and reached for her hand, intertwining our fingers as I held it. Probably a little too tight.

“We’re not even inside yet,” she giggled, already figuring out my possessive, jealous nature.

“I know I’m gonna get pissed.”

“Relax. No one here will ever be able to take me away from you.”

My shoulders released some of their tension. “Now who’s the one who knows just what to say?” I teased.

A rowdy party was underway as we entered. Rock music blared from several speakers around the room. Several of the pool tables were occupied by bikers wearing RBMC cuts. Everywhere you looked club girls or ol’ ladies were pressed against a member of the club. Some kissed. Others let their hands roam wherever they wanted. A few found dark corners to feed their lust.

I hoped to hell no one was fucking in the open. That was too much for my woman. To my relief, no one had yet.

As we entered, all eyes turned in our direction. I couldn’t help sneering at every fucker who stared at Bianca too long.

Every single one of them was going on my shit list.

Bianca seemed to be oblivious to the appreciative glances in her direction. Her gaze bounced around the room, taking in the biker bar, the recessed lighting, the dark polished woods, and the hint of lemon mixed with leather, cigarette smoke, and weed.

“So this is how bikers party,” she whispered. “Wow, Benny.”

A snorted, finding it a hell of a lot less exciting or interesting than she did. “Let’s move.”

My hand rested at the small of her back as I steered her toward a high-backed booth on the far side of the room, gesturing for her to slide in first because I planned to remain a buffer between her and any motherfucker stupid enough to try to talk to her without my permission.
