“You will now.”

Emotion clogged my throat, and I cleared it. “She said she traveled here to try to find me. When she didn’t, she bought the plot at the cemetery and paid for the mausoleum. Her contacts said it was a central location in Nevada. A place where the trail ran cold, but she never gave up hope.”

“You’ve been loved all along, Benny.”

I was a lucky bastard.

What a fucking amazing Christmas this turned out to be.

“My father would have loved you.” I tugged Bianca close and draped my arm around her. “He would have been proud to welcome you into the family.”

Adoration welled in her eyes with tears. “I would have loved to meet him, too.”

“I finally feel peace.”

“As you should. You’re a good man, Benny.”

“Even if I’m your demon of the night? The phantom with his scars?”

“Especially then,” she smiled, resting her cheek over my heart.

The demon and the angel. A phantom and his princess.

Who said we couldn’t live happily ever after?

Epilogue

“Ihave something foryou,” Benny murmured, holding my hands. “Close your eyes.”

We stood outside Craven’s cottage, deciding how to rebuild the house and what layout we wanted. I needed my veranda and to face the sunrise as I did every morning. Not negotiable.

“Is it a surprise I’ll like?”

“Women,” he muttered. “Just do it,cara mia.”

“Okay.” I shut them but tried to peek, and he caught me.
