"If we are lucky, no one." Dagor turned to look at the entrance to the dining hall, where the human girl was still standing with her tablet and welcoming the guests.

People were trickling in slowly, but Aru and Gabi were still a no-show, and there were only a few minutes left before the doors closed, provided that these immortals were punctual.

Given how no one was in a rush, though, it didn't seem like they expected the head of their clan to start the festivities right on time.

Glancing at the doorway, Dagor's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

Toven, his wheelchair-bound immortal mate, and Frankie arrived together. They were waiting for the girl to tell them their table number.

What was Frankie doing with the royal?

Perhaps she was a personal servant to the mate?

That wasn't likely, given how she was dressed. The blue dress was a show-stopper, especially the way it accentuated Frankie's every curve.

She looked stunning. For a human, Dagor reminded himself.

He planned on spending an enjoyable night or two with her, but he wasn't stupid enough to get attached to a human.

Frankie

Frankie walked in a daze, keeping her hand on Mia's wheelchair for balance.

Her best friend was mated to a god. Mated, not married, which was supposedly stronger than marriage, but some of these immortals were getting officially married on this cruise for the fun of it.

Mia had told her a few more things on the way to the dining hall. Still, Frankie's ability to process the bizarre was apparently limited, and she didn't want to faint again.

Her life so far clearly hadn't been eventful enough because she'd never heard anything that had caused her to faint before.

Well, that wasn't entirely true. When Mia's heart had given out, and the doctors had to amputate her legs, Frankie had felt like shattering into pieces, but somehow, she hadn't.

The helplessness had been overwhelming, but at least she could be there for her friend and try to support her as best she could.

She could have been more resilient back then. Perhaps her ability to absorb things had been better.

"You are seated at table seven," the girl with the tablet said. "Enjoy your evening."

Mia lifted her eyes to her. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'll just hang on to your chair if you don't mind."

Mia nodded. "I'll go slow."

It was funny that the one with the healthy legs was relying on the one in the wheelchair to lead her. The good news was that Mia wouldn't need the chair for much longer. Her feet would take another month or two to form, and she would start walking again.

Talk about miracles.

As they made their way to the table, Frankie felt as if everyone was watching her and wondering what the lone human was doing in their midst.

Wait, was Doug an immortal?

Of course, he was. He probably was one of the immortals from Scotland, which was why Mia didn't know him. He'd told her he was from Hungary, but that might have been a lie.

Why Hungary, though?

It was such a random country to choose.

"Good evening." A beautiful brunette she remembered meeting at Mia's old house smiled at her. "Do you remember me? I'm Geraldine. My daughter Cassandra and I met with you several months ago." She smiled sheepishly. "But we are not Toven's cousins. I'm Toven's daughter, and Cassandra is his granddaughter." She turned to the handsome man sitting next to her. "This is my mate, Shai."
