“No, I don’t remember a single thing from last night after we left the restroom. Everything is fuzzy.”

She giggles.

Fuck.

“You don’t remember anything at all?”

“Just tell me, what did I do?”

She giggles some more and now I know I’m fucked.

“The bits and pieces I do have don’t make sense, so I’m not sure if it was just like a hangover dream. I think I remember grabbing drinks and going to dance?” I ask as more of a question than a statement. “Do you remember? Because you sure are smiling fucking huge.”

“I do.” a mischievous smirk graces her face.

“That's it? You do? Elaborate, please. Now!” I demand.

“We had the time of our lives. I haven’t seen you let go like that in a long time!” excitement radiating from her body.

She is behind the curtain again, but I can picture her smiling from the sound of her voice as she continues to recap me. My palm slaps my forehead and I have a feeling my alter ego made an appearance.

"It was crazy!" she starts.

It’s at this exact moment that I feel like I’m watchingThe Hangover-The Alex and Cora version.

"I don't think we have had that much fun ever," she continues. "Alex, you got on the bar, and everyone was yelling and cheering while you danced."

"What? OMG! What else? Tell me," I laugh.

“You were hyping everybody up, rallying everybody onto the dance floor. It was so much fun. You were always a natural at being the life of a party. You danced with Xzavien and- oh!- Kohen was watching you dance all night!”

I pause, my smile fading. I must look like a confused puppy with my head tilted to one side. “Kohen?” I question.

She peeks out of the curtain and looks at me like I should know what she is talking about. “Alex, you were all over him.” She laughs, and I forget to breathe.

I gag like I’m gonna vomit. “Lies,” I deadpan.

“Alex, don’t start. He came up to you, and you thought he wasso hotwhen we introduced himself.”

“And” I interrupt her, “What? I don’t remember that at all. You better be kidding, Cora”

She has to be kidding. I would remember that. To be fair, I hadn’t drank alcohol in a very long time, so I was probably acting like an idiot.

“I can’t believe I danced on the bar,” I groan with my head in my hands. I had been the most outgoing version of myself in a long time and I don’t even remember. I was introduced to the most popular and handsome guy at our school and don’t even remember what he looks like. How the fuck is that fair? This is unbelievable and, in his house, no less.

“Cora! Ugh, this is just my luck.” pulling my hair out of frustration.

She just laughs in response. She turns off the water and opens the curtain, still smiling.

“Don’t your cheeks hurt? Have you been smiling this whole time?.” Her smile fades as she walks to where I sit.

“What’s wrong?”

“I’m just pissed because I wish I remembered. I hate having questions and not knowing for myself.”

“I know, Alex, but trust I had your back and you were safe. I’m sorry, but you were having so much fun and I decided to just let you be.”

“I’m not mad at you, Cora. Well, I am, but not too bad.” We laugh. “And I know you kept me safe. Thank you. I love you mucho.”
