“Well…” Her poor Therak! “How about you give it a try? Now is your chance.” She scooted in the bed until half of it was free. “Just for a few minutes, then the exciting corridor is all yours.”
He stayed where he was, eyes brightening to pale blue.
“I’ll be on my best behavior, promise.”
What Miya suspected was uncertainty or shyness, or both disappeared from his gaze. Therak locked the door from the inside with a quick press on the hololock and took the distance to the bed in two long strides.
She stifled a grin at his eagerness. “Big spoon or little spoon?”
“Which one will you enjoy more?”
Oh, what she would enjoy more was the cowgirl, but that wasn’t on the menu at present. Still, snuggling with Therak came a close second. Miya liked the thought of being his first in something. Of making him feel good. “How about you being my little spoon? If you lie down on one side facing the door, you can keep watch.”
That sold it. Therak was sprawled next to her in no time, with Miya cuddling him from behind after some adjustments due to their height difference.
“You good, Therak?”
“Yes”.
“My nose poking you in the back?”
“Yes.”
“Should I move?”
“No. I like it. It’s… warm. Relaxing.”
“My nose?”
“Cuddling.”
“Oh.”
“Try to sleep now.”
“Okay… If you get too warm, you’ll let me know, right?”
“Miya.”
“What? I’ll sleep better knowing you’re comfortable.”
He put his hand on top of hers resting on his chest. “I am.”
His touch, his voice… Therak might as well have said he had everything he wanted right here.
Miya certainly felt like that. As if everything was right in the worlds. That didn’t make sense, but like hells would she not enjoy the amazing feeling while it lasted.
She kissed Therak’s back and snuggled closer.
Exhaustion overtook her in no time. As she succumbed to sleep, three whispered words reached her.
“Rest, my sapphire.”

Miya woke up feeling comfy and toasty warm. At first she couldn’t remember where she was, but a look around through her sleepy eyes brought the memories back.
