“You go back to your space station. I go back to my boss.”

Forget the massage. Miya whirled around in her seat to stare at him. “You want to go to the person who wants you dead?”

“Yes.” Said as calmly as usual. “He and I will have a word. It will take me some time to get to him, but it will be done. I will not be running for the rest of my life, Miya.”

“Good.” She smiled but felt like crying inside.

His plan meant they would be going their separate ways, and the path he had chosen was nearly suicidal. However confident he was in his skills, Therak was not infallible and she feared for his life.

And if he came out of this new mission in one piece, would she see him again? He had chosen her as his female but had never said she was the One for him, had he? Maybe once –if– he was free of Corco-ass, Therak would decide to go back to being an assassin instead of trying to have a relationship with a commercial pilot who wasn’t the One. He was a workaholic who didn't do relationships, after all.

Miya should ask him but was too Earth chicken to. At least now she had hope left that Therak considered her his one and only. A negative answer would break her heart. Because she had fallen for the alien assassin. As fast and unavoidably as oxygen levels did when a ship’s life support system failed.

He must have read the sadness in her eyes because he said, “I must deal with Corcoraba and the bounty on my head for both our sakes’, sapphire. I will not allow anyone to target you because of me.”

“You can’t stop the military from questioning me, Therak,” she reminded him. Herself too. She should really get her head out of the clouds and focus on reality. “I’m thinking I should say that you broke free in the chaos of the attack on the military ship, and you took me with you after the ship’s explosion because you needed a pilot. You later went puff on me once we reached Alfatar. That would be as close to the truth as possible, right?”

He nodded.

“I’ll also file a report against Solais and Garfis once I get home. Let their superiors know of their crimes in advance, just in case the two survive Xera and start talking about me willingly aiding a deadly escapee.” It would be their words against hers, but with no evidence a valuable pilot like herself shouldn’t be in trouble. She hoped.

“Do not worry about them. If they resurface and dare cause you trouble, I will pay them a visit.”

“But, Therak, you can’t deal with everyone–”

He gave her neck a reassuring squeeze.

She sighed. “Okay, I trust you to do your thing.” It wasn’t like she could help him in his plans with a wrench or a carrier bot, anyway.

Therak knelt before her, his face on her eye level. “I have one more thing to ask of you before we part ways, Miya.”

“Oh?”

His gaze was locked on hers, growing more intense by the second. “This is important and is not up for discussion.”

She couldn’t help a smile despite her heart aching. “You want to be my little spoon one last time before we dock?”

His eyes sparked with interest but he said, “You shall give me your undergarments, sapphire.”

She blinked. “This is the important thing you want from me? Myundies?”

His hands slid up her legs until they rested on her hips. Then he gently pulled her forward until she was seated on the edge, legs opened to accommodate his large frame. “If I cannot have the whole of you with me, let me at least have your scent.”

Miya shook her head in disbelief but smiled. He was such a weirdo. Hells, how would she go on without him?

“You will be covered from other males’ eyes with this horrid Martian drape–”

“Emergency blanket.” Her lips twitched.

“–so you don’t need these la-ce contraptions,” he finished, eyes on the prize now. “They shall be mine.”

She raised a brow at him. “And where will you keep them? You don’t exactly have a pocket, Therak. You’ll compromise your invisibility.”

She immediately imagined how he would look like to the people on Alfatar: a pair of green panties floating in mid-air and running around the station. She giggled.

“I have my ways. Do not concern yourself with details, Miya. Now undress.”

Her brows nearly reached her hairline. He had used that commanding tone that always got her clit throbbing and her core aching to be filled, but his timing couldn’t be worse. They had ten or so minutes to the station’s docking bay, and he wanted her to get out of the panties she had donned half an hour agonow? What about preparing for the arrival of the welcome crew aboard once they landed? Then there was the matter of saying goodbye–
