Miya was waiting. And hoping. But for how long could her heart keep this up?

Therak might never come back because he had lost his head. Or because he was on the run from basically the whole galaxy. He had said he would come for her, but what had he meant by that? She couldn’t imagine him returning to her when that would put her in danger.

And yet, she kept waiting for him. Kept hoping he would show up alive and well.

Miya sighed again. Hadn’t she learned her lesson? Thinking positively never led to anything good in her case. Expecting the worst was better. It kept your heart in one piece.

She shook her head to put a stop to the thoughts leading nowhere. At this rate, she wouldn’t catch a shuteye at all, her mind too preoccupied with what- ifs.

She reached for the bed cover next to her. It was warm in her cabin after she had personally fixed the faulty thermoregulator two days ago, but right now she wanted to hide her nightie from view. As much as wearing such sexy things usually boosted her confidence and mood, right now the newest addition to her wardrobe was only making her feel more miserable.

Miya had barely touched the cover when she felt pressure around her wrist. Just like that, she couldn’t move her hand.

“What off Earth–”

She squeaked as a male materialized above her. He was leaning over her, one hand keeping her wrist pinned on the cover and one knee perched on the bed’s edge for balance. A naked male. One with eyes of swirling colors and bronze skin shimmering in the low artificial light of her bedroom.

“Relax, Miya. It’s me.”

“Therak?” He was here, on this space station? In her bedroom? Partially in her bed? “I’m having another wet dream, aren’t I?”

That got a fangy smile out of him. “I’m real, my sapphire. As for the wet part…” His free hand slid sensually up her naked thigh before cupping her hip through the slit of her nightie. All the while his darkened gaze raked over her body.

Yup, dream or reality, she was getting wet for sure.

“I couldn’t let you hide this sight,” he whispered as he released her hand holding the bed cover. “It is meant for me.”

“Is it?” She was so confused. His hand sliding further upward until his fingers rested on the waistband of her blue lace panties wasn’t making it easier for her brain to catch up.

“Yes. You were hearts-stopping while you were preparing yourself for me tonight.”

Braced on his forearm, he lowered himself on the bed until he could take her scent from the crook of her neck.

Miya cupped his head with both hands to bring his face over hers. “For how long have you been invisible in my cabin?”

“Enough to lose all focus.”

She couldn’t take it anymore. She pulled him down for a kiss and moaned against his mouth when he settled on top of her, sliding a leg between hers. His tongue danced with hers until she was writhing underneath him.

Still, when their lips parted for a breather, she cupped his face to stop him from diving back in or kissing his way down her Therak-starved body.

“How dare you not show yourself to me right away? I thought you were dead or never coming back!”

“I said I’ll come for you, Miya. You know I keep my promises.”

“Yes, but what if you had died?”

“I would not let death take me right after I had found the One.”

“The One?... You mean... me?”

He frowned. “I told you I choose you, sapphire. Now, where were we?”

She put a finger on his lips to stop the next kiss. “But what exactly does that mean, Therak? I mean, for us? Do you still have mercs after you? Is Corco-ass still on your ass? What happened–”

He kissed her finger. Interrupted her ensuing protest with a possessive kiss on the lips.

“Therak…” She panted. “We should talk.”
