He knew she was human. Fantastic.

“Who will off us, then?” Miya was asking for trouble, particularly after the Commander’s warning to keep her mouth shut while in the cargo hold. But there was no way she could drop the topic now and go have a peaceful nap. Shehadto know.

Zizu was right there with Miya on that, judging by her silence and perked round ears.

The prisoner did not reply.

Nowhe chose to stay quiet? “Let me guess,” Miya prompted him. “If it’s time-sensitive, it has to be someone who… is coming after us?”

The shadow of a lopsided smile passed across his lips. “If you’re as smart as you sound, you will let me out of here when the moment comes. Otherwise, we’ll all die.”

Miya gulped. The assassin was probably talking bullshit in his desperation to escape before they reached their destination. Or playing mind games with her for fun. Either way, a peaceful, nightmare-free sleep was not on the menu for her today.

“Zizu, I’m done here. I mean, the repairs are comple–”

The doors opened, letting a smug-faced Solais into the cargo hold, two vials in his hand. “Time for a long nap, curhole!” he announced with glee. “Zizu, get the tranq gun ready.”

“What are you going to inject him with?” Zizu sounded hesitant. “We need to deliver him alive, remember?”

“Chill, babe, it won’t hurt him… too much. The Commander will thank me later.”

“Um… I’ll get the engines started,” Miya mumbled, already on her way to the exit. She wanted no part in whatever came next. It was enough that she was transporting these soldiers with questionable morals.

“You do that, sugar,” Solais said as she passed by him. “I’ll come find you once we’re done here.”

Miya rolled her eyes. “How about you come let me out of here first?”

As she waited for Solais to scan his hand on the lock, Miya cast a final look at the prisoner. Only to discover his head was turned in her direction. Again.

As if he had felt her eyes on him, he spoke once more. “Don’t rely on the Cordalian to save you, Earthling. I’m your only chance againstthem.”

After those cryptic words, Miya bolted out of the cargo hold as soon as the doors began to open. By the time they closed shut, muffling Solais’ angry reaction to the prisoner speaking, she was already jogging toward the cockpit.

Miya intended to get this ship back on the cosmic road immediately, and at full speed.

Just in case.

Lace Undergarments and Babydolls

It was an entire hour later that Miya allowed herself to go get some rest. She could have engaged the autopilot mere minutes after she had gotten the engines running, but she had needed to make sure no one was after them. After constantly looking for a tail both while in the busy section of System 6 and after venturing off the main transport route, Miya could safely say their ship was not being followed.

She still made sure the autopilot would alert her should any ship get within their sensors’ range. One could never be too careful in the deserted parts of a system, flying under the Intergalactic Council’s logo or not. Space pirates were everywhere these days, so...

Okay, she was totally being paranoid. So sue her. Better paranoid than dead, right?

With her trusted wrench in hand, Miya entered the pilot’s personal cabin. And sighed. So much for her double bed on the space station. But she had to be grateful for having her own space during the trip, as tiny as it was. Sleeping in the common quarters with the soldiers, particularly Solais, would have sucked big time.

After a race to shower within the 3 minutes of hot water available in the ensuite bathroom – more like a claustrophobe’s worst nightmare, it was finally time to get into something comfortable and face-plant in bed.

Or not. In the hasty departure from the station courtesy of the pushy Commander and her ass-licking boss, Miya had had to grab her holiday luggage. Meaning all her sleepwear was meant not for comfort but for sexy time. Cue lace undergarments and babydolls for nights of little sleep and lots of fun with a hot human or alien in her hotel room.

She smiled to herself while looking at a completely transparent nightie made of Furvian silk. If the Cordalian could see her now, no wrench would be needed to scramble his brains.

Miya didn’t consider herself gifted with irresistible looks, but the sexy stuff she had the tradition of buying once a month did look good on her. They certainly made her feel desirable even when there was no one else but her under the sheets. So what if her collection had grown too big for her cramped cabin on the space station? Better to have seductive spares than run out of panties to wear under the chaffing pilot jumpsuit.

The undies she chose now were definitely not suitable for piloting or sleeping, but the olive-green lace contrasted well with her creamy skin and went along perfectly with her chestnut hair and hazel eyes, if she said so herself. The panties, along with the matching push-up lace bralette, were her latest purchase.
