Gavin knows about @GinLife

Ginny

How?

Spencer

I got really mad at the comments on your latest post and showed it to him and…fuck, I’m so sorry, Gin.

Ginny

Those comments aren’t even anything new! You’ve seen that before.

Spencer

I take it you still don’t read the comments, because they were awful.

Ginny

They are faceless, nameless trolls who have nothing better to do.

Spencer

I know, ugh, I just…for the record, he seems to be handling it pretty well.

And he’s also probably at your place already.

Ginny

Are you kidding me?

Spencer

I’m sorry! I thought I was doing the right thing, I am really sorry, Gin.

She was actually surprisedthat it took Spencerthatlong to spill the beans to Gavin. Because she was sure that her best friend couldn’t keep that secret for too long. Especially when she and Gavin showed up at the Rhodes house for lunch hand-in-hand.

There was no need for a conversation about how they were going to tell his family, one day they were fucking like rabbits and the next they were sitting at lunch as a couple. It had made her heart do funny things, being considered part of a couple. Gavin didn’t hover or cling to her, he let her spend time with his mother while he, Spencer and his dad did whatever they were doing. And having Juniper and Elijah Rhodes welcome her back into their home was icing on the cake that she’d been so nervous about.

Now the man she was dating knew about her biggest secret.

There were so many reasons why she kept that part of her life separate, but mostly because she knew that her friends and family would jump to her defense the minute they saw those comments. Being an influencer, a woman and someone who put themselves out there publicly like that, Ginnyknewwhat kind of shit she would have to deal with on a daily basis. She’d gotten so good at ignoring the comments, blocking and deleting the ones that were really offensive. Spencer, on the other hand, kept wanting to defend her and Ginny had to remind him not to get involved. Which was further proof why she didn’t tell anyone else.

Though, there had been a few instances when she almost told Gavin. Like the day he opened the door to her studio and looked around in confusion before walking out. He never asked about it or went back to look at it again, so she forgot about it as well. Ginny knew that she would eventually tell Gavin about @GinLife, show him what she did when she wasn’t planning events and parties. Show him how powerful being an influencer made her feel. She just hadn’t reached that point of being ready to share it with him yet.

Now Spencer had done it for her.

Having known him his entire life, Ginny was sure that Gavin was already gearing up into protective mode to defend and shut down every troll and comment that had appeared. She didn’t need a knight in shining armor, because she wasn’t a damsel in distress. Ginny just wanted Gavin to trust her with this part of her life. Spencer’s text about Gavin ‘handling it pretty well’ comforted her a little, but she knew that until she got home, she wouldn’t know how he wasreallyhandling it. Putting herself in his shoes, Ginny knew that if she found out about him having a secret life of some kind, she’d probably be a little peeved. But she’d give him a chance to explain.

On the bright side, the launch party in New York had gone so well. Tons of body positive influencers had shown up, lots of models were there and everyone was talking about the party on social media from the minute she posted her pictures until she was on the plane. The cofounders had been ecstatic by the response and the number of sales that had already gone through since their website was live. This was why Ginny did those brand endorsements, to give the right people the attention they deserved. She knew that Curved Lace was going to become popular for all the right reasons and with or without her, they would still do so well.

Spencer’s texts had come in as she was checking in for her flight. The plan was to go straight from the launch party to the airport, so she was still dressed in a gorgeous blush pink dress another body inclusive brand had sent her. She’d swapped her stilettos for sneakers and wore a jacket to cover her bare arms. As she walked around the terminal, Ginny considered calling Gavin to make sure he wasn’t doing anything stupid. But then changed her mind because she didn’t want to get into a fight or conversation about it over the phone.

Instead, she silenced her phone and put it away.

She would deal with it like an adult when she got home.
