"Areyou sure you have to leave? Theo and I don't mind if you stay..." I really don'twanthim to leave if I'm being one hundred percent honest with myself.
Gus kisses me softly. "You girls need a day, I've been monopolizing you since we met."
He may be the very sweetest man.
"I haven't been complaining," I whine. He grins at me, kisses me again, unconcerned by Theo's presence. That's so nice.
"I was gonna start," Theo mutters.
He chuckles and salutes her. "An honest woman."
"Damn straight," Theo says.
Gus tilts my chin up and kisses me deeply, pulling me by the hip until I'm pressed against him again. I want to stay just like this. "I'm giving you a chance to miss me is all, angel," he whispers in my ear. "Can I call you tonight?"
I nod, feeling clingy, but not caringtoomuch.
"You girls have fun," he says, louder now. "Theo, it was lovely to meet you. I hope we can all do this again." I kiss him again before he can duck out the door. He winks at me and says, "I'll call you later."
I wave as he goes and lean against the apartment door after closing it behind him.
"Well. You are in a fine state." Theo says exactly five seconds after Gus is gone.
"I know," I crow. "Isn't he wonderful?" She laughs.
"He seems wonderful, yes." She sighs at me. "You're going to be impossible all day, aren't you?"
I know she's kidding but she's also right. I'm downright giddy over a guy.
Andamazing sex.
Mostly the guy though. It's a solid mix.
"Yes," I admit. "It's fast but he's nice. I trust him."
"It is fast. Especially for you, but go with your gut. You like him. And he obviously likes you. A lot."
"You can tell?"
"Oh yeah, his eyes are on you nonstop. If he wasn't so good-looking, and he didn't make you so insanely happy, I'd be worried he's a little obsessed. But it seems like a good obsessed so far. But obsessed can get scary in no time. So be on the lookout for strange behavior."
I laugh. "I'm not afraid. Isn't that crazy?"
She nods. "I did notice that, it's a truly delightful development." She's not even giving me a hard time. I don't know that I deserve her.
"It feels right with him, Theo." I meet her eyes, "Am I hurrying it along somehow?"
She seems to really think it over which makes me feel better. "I don't think so. You're not in a rush. It's just happening. It almost feels out of your control..." She gnaws on her thumbnail and frowns. “You have no bad feelings or anything where he’s concerned?”
I give the question serious consideration and decide, “No, I really don’t.”
She grins, "It's nice to see you so happy. I like your Gus for that."
"Me too," I tell her. "Me too."

Later that night, I'm about to dial Gus' number when my phone rings. I check the number and sure enough, it's him. Joyfully, I pick up my phone. "I was just about to call you."
