The bathroom is massive, nearly a room of it’s own with the large shower with glass walls. I glance around as Dom strips out of his clothes and turns to me. My eyes travel over his body from head to toe. I’ve seen him shirtless but like this is something else. Tattoos color his body from his neck down to his feet. He steps toward me slowly, until he’s right in front of me.

“I said to take off the sheet. You need to wash off.” His voice is husky and full of lust, but my heart is breaking inside of me. Betrayal runs deep and Abby was a friend for a long time. Dom must be able to see that in my eyes.

“I’m not going to fuck you, Eva.” I swallow the lump in my throat and slowly peel the sheet from my body, letting it fall to the floor. Then he reaches out his hand to me, offering it to me and I take it. Dom leads me into the large shower and it feels strangely intimate in here. Sharing a shower with the man that just killed my best friend my body slowly begins to shake. Dom’s there, wrapping his arms around me, holding me like he isn’t the one that murdered her.

“She’s dead,” I cry because I don’t know what else to do. I’m letting the man that did it hold me, care for me. I’m a traitor. I’m betraying her now by letting him. Push him away. I need to push him away and I try, but Dom is stronger than me. He doesn’t budge and that makes me cry harder.

“I know. I know,” he whispers into my hair as tears keep falling.

“So many years and it was all lies. I hate her for lying to me.”

“I know you do. Shh,” he whispers once more and I lose to the sobs. My energy depletes as I fall into Dom’s arms. He moves to sit on the floor of the shower with me still entangled in his arms.

“She was my best friend.” Dom moves to grab some soap as I look down at my body. Spots of blood linger on my chest and I reach up trying to wipe it away, but it’s all I can see. “It won’t go away!” I scream as more hysterical tears fall down my cheeks and I scrub at my chest. Dom wraps me tighter in his arms, keeping me from scratching at my skin.

“I’ll clean it off,” he says softly as I feel soap being massaged into my flesh.

“You’re taking care of me,” I say unsure of how to feel about that. He just killed her and now I’m in his shower.

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Isn’t it obvious?”

“Not to me. You kidnapped me,” I remind him. Dom chuckles and I can feel it vibrate through his whole body.

“And I’m keeping you. Letting you go isn’t safe. If my father gets his hands on you you will be dead, Eva.”

“Why do they want me dead?”

“I don’t know, but your father sent you here. He had to have known we would find you. Hell, you were in my school. He had to have known,” he keeps repeating those words as if he isn’t sure he believes them, but he has to be right. Why would my father be so willing to let me go? It all starts to make sense. Everything Dom said seems to be true.

When the shower runs cold, Dom stands and offers me his hand. I let him pull me up and out of the shower before he grabs a towel and wraps it around me.

“She’s dead,” I whisper once more. At this point I feel like a zombie. I feel like I’m the one that died and came back as this. I don’t know who I am or where I belong anymore. How can my life change so much in the short time that I’ve been here? What happens now? There are far too many questions and not enough answers. I need answers.

Dom leads me into this room and I watch as he dries and pulls a pair of gym shorts on under his towel. Then his towels gone. His muscles flex, and my mouth waters. That man is a killer. He kills. That’s the fact I have to keep reminding myself. I need to beat that into my own head but that doesn’t stop me from looking.

“I won’t fuck you, Eva, not until you ask me to.” His words snuff out the need and something new hits me in the chest. Is he actually being caring? How can that be?

“I don’t have any clothes,” I tell him.

“I like you in nothing.”

“Please, Dom.” Without another word, he’s pulling a shirt from his drawer and walking toward me, pulling the towel from my body he slowly lets his fingers graze over my arms. Bumps form and my breathing becomes quicker. Then he pulls away and slides the shirt over my head.

“We need to sleep. Tomorrow we’ll figure things out,” he says nodding toward the bed. I cross my arms over my chest and shake my head.

“I’m not sleeping with you.” His throat bobs as he swallows and drags his gaze back to mine.

“You will sleep in my bed if you know what’s good for you. I’d hate to turn you over to my father.” His threat is as clear as day and slowly I force my feet to move. Climbing on the bed, I lay down when someone knocks on the door.

“Fuck off until tomorrow!” Dom roars while climbing on the bed. I can feel it shift, but I don’t dare look over at him. Then he’s near me. His warm breath dances over my flesh, his arm coming around my stomach.

“Just sleep, Eva.”
