"Well, Logan.... at least you have good taste."

She gets up and puts her clothes on before I walk her out of the penthouse. As the door closes behind her, I lean against the wall, my breath held in as I listen to her footsteps fade away. There's a twinge of regret, but mostly relief.

"Another one bites the dust," I murmur to the empty room.

BAILEY

You got this, Bayles.

He's just a man.

Yeah... a ridiculously handsome, annoyingly charming man.

Stop it.

What? You know I'm right.

My thoughts fight my conflicting desires.

He's a player, a heartbreaker.

And you?

You're a professional.

A successful, ambitious woman.

You're here to do your job, not to fall for his pretty-boy antics.

I deepen my breaths as I push open the doors to the building. The familiar buzz of the office greets me, and the smell of fresh coffee wanders through the air. It's the first day I'll be training Logan Atwood.

You know this place like the back of your hand.

You've got the skills, the knowledge.

He needs you, not the other way around.

As I make my way to my desk, my mind fills with facts and figures, strategies and market trends. I have a rigorous training schedule prepped for Logan. He is in for a surprise if he thinks he can charm his way through this. I'm not another one of his starry-eyed conquests.

As I'm flipping through my notes, preparing for Logan's "training," I hear an excited murmur from the office floor. I glance up to see what the deal is when I hear an obnoxiously familiar voice.

I freeze in my tracks. That voice. It can't be...

It's Logan.

"Good morning, team! Who's ready for some coffee?"

I rush out of my office to find Logan already here, unannounced and far too early. And he's not alone, he's brought an army of baristas with him and is handing out fancy coffee concoctions to the whole team. He is laughing, chatting, and charming everyone within a ten-foot radius.

"Logan." I approach him. "What are you doing?"

"Good morning to you too, Bailey." He winks at me, completely unfazed by my obvious annoyance. "Thought I'd bring in some coffee. I figured a kick start to the day never hurt anyone."

"Oh, and you just happened to decide this on your first day of training?" I cross my arms.

"Coincidence." He shrugs. "Can't a guy treat his team?"
