“So, Brooklyn, are you going to move back into the compound now?” Savvy asks.

“Well, Aryan and I haven’t discussed it, and I like having my own house,” she says, looking at me for my reaction.

“I don’t care either way because I am going to be wherever you are,” I tell her making her smile.

“I need to come over there and get your house wired up. You need some security measures like we have here,” Jabarri says and is cut off by his cell chirping out an alert. “See what I mean? Someone is coming back, probably forgot something. You don’t have this kind of surveillance at your house.” Jabarri chimes in.

“Salove, where does all that food go?” Jaasiel asks.

“Right here, Uncle Jaasiel,” he responds, patting his flat stomach, making us all laugh at him.

“Speaking of eating, Liam, how many plates are you going to eat,” Emerson asks as he walks in from the kitchen.

“As many as I can. I have to take advantage of Praise and Jaasiel’s cooking when I can,” he says as the doorbell rings. “I’ll get it,” he says, turning on his heels and heading to the front door. “I wonder who left something,” he says, swinging the door open and being met with a gun. The shot hits him center mass at point-blank range, making Liam fly backward with the force of the impact. He somehow manages to kick the door close before hitting the ground hard.

“Liam!” Emerson screams, running over to him when all hell breaks loose and gunfire opens up. In a matter of seconds, everyone has a gun in their hands.

“Who the fuck is stupid enough to try to hit us at our own house?” Josh says, walking past the window as the gunfire takes out the windows to get to Savvy, who has a gun.

“We know where to go,” Joseph says, but Josh says,

“No! Not with the women being here, we all stay in here, together, and we make them sorry they ever tried this shit,” Josh says just as a bullet comes in from the back shattering the glass retractable wall.

“Fuck, we’re surrounded,” Anson says.

“We’ll hold them off. You ladies go, get our stuff, and get back here ASAP,” Asher says. They take off, but I grab Brooklyn before she can leave.

“I’m okay, Aryan. I’ll be right back,” she says. Against my instincts, I let her go and concentrate on killing every mother fucker out there daring to hurt my family. We take posts at the windows and begin unloading clips, taking out as many as we can.

“Who is this? And why are they here?”

“Nabeck,” Alondra says, looking out of the window.

“He couldn’t have gotten this many of his men across the border,” Jaasiel says.

“He probably hired these men once he got to America,” Joseph says.

The women come back in the room looking like femaleRambos. Liam is fine. His chest will be bruised, and he may have bruised or broken ribs but he’s alive. His new line of Kevlar made sure of it. I know he is in pain, but he finds a window and begins returning fire. Emerson takes a rifle up on a higher floor to find a nest. Jabarri hands her a communication device so we can stay in contact with her. She takes the stairs two at a time, disappearing up the stairwell. I look for Brooklyn, and she is next to Skai and Savvy, returning fire too. We are killing as many as we can, but they just keep coming like roaches.

“How many did he bring?” Jabarri yells.

“I think our reputation caused him to overcompensate,” Atlas yells back.

“They’re making their way to the house!” Asher says.

“No matter what, they cannot get inside the house,” Josh says, and I know he’s right. We don’t have enough people to successfully fight them off if they get inside this house.

“If they are coming for the boy, this ain’t the best way. What if they kill him?” Anson says.

“I think it’s a matter of if I can’t have you, no one can,” Savvy says as she shoots, taking out two of the men approaching the house. True looks like the black version of Tomb Raider, shooting with both guns, and Parker isn’t far behind.

“There are too many!” someone yells right before a loud whistle sounds out seconds before there is an explosion.

“Who was that?”

“Most likely Emerson, she is pissed about Liam,”

“I can’t say I blame her,”
