“Who am I supposed to see at three?” He asked, turning to face me. I was so flustered that I took a step back and lost my footing in the sand.

Bloody high heel shoes! So much for being professional on my first day! How was I supposed to know I’d be running around in beach sand?! He leaned forward to grab my arm and pull me up.

“Steady on, there,” he said, and I was vaguely aware of his groin area coming dangerously closer towards me. I blinked furiously, so mortified I could have died.

He was laughing! The bastard was grinning from ear to ear, as if he was really enjoying making me uncomfortable. I could feel my face reddening.

“Here, hold this,” he said, handing me his towel as he reached for his clothes inside the car.

“So, the three o’clock?” he asked again, pulling on a pair of jeans.

“Uhm…yes…Tamara?”

“Who?”

I knew he was having me on by now.

I gave a deep sigh. “I don’t know, that was the message and I gave it. It’s my first day, I think I deserve a medal just for finding you at all.”

He looked at me, his dark blue eyes twinkling mischievously.

“I think you’re right,” he said, a lopsided grin on his face.

“I’m awarding you the PA medal for Bravery and Courage Under Fire,” he said and pretended to pin something onto my shirt. I’d taken off my jacket and I could feel his hand brush over my breast, the palm of his hand roughly grazing my nipple. He held my gaze the whole time and I didn’t move, I barely breathed.

I could feel my nipple hardening under his touch.

“Thank you,” I said, as primly as possible and stepped away.

He put on a white T-shirt and smiled at me.

“Meet me at the house tomorrow morning at seven,” he said, getting into the car. “Ask Jill to send you the address.”

With spinning tires, he drove off, leaving me behind.

My right breast was tingling where he had accidentally touched it.

It was accidental, wasn’t it?

Suddenly, I couldn’t be certain at all.

Chapter 2

Tate

After the morning meeting, I headed towards the elevator, keen to get out of the building as quickly as possible.

Before the door could close, Jill, the head of HR, pushed her way in.

“So glad I caught you!” she said, smiling at me.

This was a little game we played, one where she pretended not to have been looking for me for a while, sending messages and making calls that I didn’t answer. My part was to pretend to be so busy that I missed all the important people looking for me, like her. Neither of us would ever admit to the truth; which was that I didn’t like talking to people like her and tended to avoid them.

“Jill, what’s up?”

“I wanted to remind you of the new PA starting on Monday.”

I groaned out loud. “As long as she isn’t as useless as that last one.”
