A spark passed us and I rested my weight on my knees, cupping her face firmly in my hands. Her skin burned my hands and I saw nothing else around me except her. She was consuming me as a whole.

I moved my head toward her neck and sniffed her. My world had revolved, started from the beginning and ended with her.

Her eyes softened and I saw desire take over the winsome brown eyes. She shut her eyes and I hardened down my pants. She wasn’t stopping me and that made my heart flutter which made me breathless. I brushed my mouth against her neck and I saw goosebumps break out on her skin.

I removed one of my hands from her face and snaked it to her waist, earning a soft moan from her lips. My pulse of desire intensified as I saw her trying to clench her thighs together. I grabbed her face and kissed her, and she allowed me to take control of her lips, following me slowly as if she was learning how to kiss for the first time.

It was deep, it was raw and it was slow. It contained not our frustration, but our feelings.

Our parents might have ruined us and our family might have broken us. We might be scarred and we might be traumatized, but the only thing that never changed through the years was the want we had for each other.

We had always and we would always want each other no matter how many years we would ever be apart.

She brought her hand to my face and deepened the kiss, as my mouth swallowed her moans and hers swallowed my groans. I could take her right there, but it wasn’t the time and place for it. We shouldn’t do anything in the heat of the moment.

I released her lips and rested my forehead on hers. I smiled at her and she blew a raspberry at me, making me scrunch my face as a deep chuckle erupted from my throat.

Placing a gentle kiss on her forehead, I stood up, holding her up with me. “We need to sleep now, but you need to shower first.” She rolled her eyes and I squinted my eyes at her skeptically. “You still hate taking showers at night, don’t you?”

“No, I don’t. I’ve changed, okay? Stop acting like you know everything about me,” she snapped as though we were fighting and I nodded with a smile.

I was getting used to her outbursts, so I knew not to take her little rants seriously. Sometimes I could tell she didn’t even know she snapped.

She removed her top and slid down her pants, leaving her in her bra and underwear. I opened my mouth and closed it again, gulping as I stared at her in shock. Was she this comfortable with me now, that she was stripping off without looking back to see if I was still standing there?

I cleared my throat and started, “I’m still standing here.”

She sneered. “Wasn’t that your point for getting one room instead of two?” I smiled at her response and hugged her from the back, pressing her back to my chest.

She didn’t stiffen or stop me, she simply stood there with me. Maybe it was the South African air, maybe we shouldn’t return to Canada.

“Let’s take a shower together, I promise not to try anything,” I said and she sniggered.

“I brought a knife on this trip.” She entered the bathroom without closing the door. “Just a reminder, in case you want to…” she quoted her fingers in the air, “…try anything.” She entered and I unbuttoned my shirt with a grin on my face.

“Thank you,” I said as I dropped the room keys at the reception with a smile on my face. One of the ladies at the counter smiled back at me and brushed her hand with mine while taking the keys from me. I turned back to Jordan who had a scowl on her face and I sighed, what did I do now?

“What’s wrong?” I asked, but she kept her gaze on the ladies who were speaking to each other in a language I didn’t understand. “Let’s go?” It came out as a question because she didn’t look like someone who wanted to leave without pulling the hair of the girls who were just communicating happily in their language.

Before I could stop her, she walked to them and slammed her hand on the counter, scaring the ladies. She spoke in a language that they apparently understood because they replied to her, after which they turned to me and apologized.

I was lost. I just hoped she wasn’t planning to sell me.

She returned her eyes to me and eyed my sweatpants –which I bought earlier at the nearest market– in contempt. I looked down at the sweatpants and saw nothing wrong with it. Even the sweatpants must also be confused as to what was going on.

“Let’s go,” she said and proceeded to leave, but I held her hand and looked at the girls who were no longer smiling at me.

“What happened between you and those girls? Don’t you dare lie to me,” I said, pointing my fingers at her. She scoffed and slapped my hand away from her face. “Okay fine, at least tell me what language that was.”

“Afrikaans,” she muttered in response and I nodded my head. “Then what were you saying in Afrikaans?”

“Apparently, she loved the sweatpants on you, but would love to know what you look like without them,” she said and I furrowed my eyebrows for just a couple of seconds before releasing them as I burst into laughter.

“And what did you say?”
