“What is it?” His British accent was strong. He rolled his eyes at the caller, removed his glasses, cleaned his face, and put it back on. I didn’t know what the person on the other hand said, but he groaned.

“I told you I’ll call you when I’m done with it. You don’t know who we are dealing with bro, if I get caught I’ll die.” Doing something fishy, I see.

“Yeah yeah right. You think it’s still someone you know, don’t you? You don’t know what I know, especially not these past few days, so calm down and let me cook.”

Oh, was he a chef? Planning to poison someone I guess.

“You really want to die, don’t you? What do you mean by that’s not your… Didn’t you hear me? I said it’s no longer who you know.” He half yelled, then turned to me and sheepishly bowed as he whispered ‘sorry.’

“I’ll call you later. Don’t call me again, I'm serious.” He hung up, threw the phone in his pocket and laughed nervously when he caught me staring at him.

“You know these guys…” he started awkwardly, but I ignored him, shutting him up.

The elevator stopped and I got out. I turned to look at him. He remained in the elevator, cleaning his face again. A random person would have said he must sweat a lot if he had to wipe his face every minute, but I studied body language as a part of my training, so I knew that he was nervous.

Did this guy know me? Or was he just overwhelmed by my beauty and acting like a normal guy would act when in close proximity with a beautiful girl? All in all, I decided to drop a little message for him.

“Trust me mate, you will get caught.” He gulped, feigning confusion as he raised his eyebrows at me. I tilted my head at his phone. “You will get caught. You might not die, but you willsurelyget caught. It’s just life, so cook carefully.” I shrugged and left.

I entered the restaurant. It was a weekday so there were not too many customers. There were a total of seven people, including Yusuf and Gideon.

I saw Yusuf waving at me with a smile on his face and I walked over to them. I took a seat, and brought out a small notepad and a pen.

“Straight to business, I have…” I got interrupted by the two of them speaking together.

“You should greet us…”

“Hello to you too Alexis…”

You should already know who said which. I was so done with these men, especially Gideon. I decided to ignore them. “Alright, so I have a mission at hand and…”

“Didn’t you hear me Alexis? I said you should greet us,” Gideon repeated.

“Leave the girl alone,” Yusuf said, and Gideon eyed Yusuf and I, like he’d been doing for the past few days.

“Yusuf, are you fucking this girl?” He blurted out.

Okay I’d kill this man. So this was why he’d been looking at us so skeptically these past few days.

“The fuck? No. I just think she’s cute.”

I snapped my head at Yusuf, a dark glare emanating from my eyes. “And who the fuck are you calling cute?” I ragged and he chuckled.

I didn’t spend six years with twenty five murder credits to be called ‘cute.’

“Calm down, Killer, I’m just joking. Now what are you here for?”

“Because now you are both ready to talk?” I raised my eyebrows at them.

“I’m ready.” Yusuf raised his hand almost immediately. I glanced over to Gideon who groaned before raising his hand.

“I’m ready, and you better be fast cuz I have no time. I have somewhere important to be.” He barked, but I smirked smugly at him.

Even he was aware that he wouldn’t dare to move if I didn’t tell him to. He might be annoying sometimes –all the time– but he was scared of me and that gave me a sense of joy, knowing that I had the power to bring these men to their knees.

“You both know Troy Antonio?”

They thought for a while before Gideon spoke up. “Troy Antonio, CEO of Gates Group?” I nodded and they both bobbed their heads. “We know him. Why?”
